Football (Soccer)

They have really improved this season and are brimming with confidence, brushing teams aside with ease in some games and scoring plenty of goals without even having a bona-fide striker.
Out of the three sides they are probably playing the best and most free flowing football, doesnt mean they will win the league but Rice has certainly improved them as a side overall, having a decent striker would help them in the tight games though.

I still think City or Liverpool will likely win the league having the experience and Liverpool with the Klopp factor but they arent giving up just yet thats for sure, their game again City is huge though, can they get over that mental hurdle and actually beat them when it matters the most.

Yeah, I also think that this year will belong to City or Liverpool.

Arsenal still has one more summer of player transfers to solidify them as the team to beat. I'm really happy with their progress over the past few years and the foundation has already been laid to take them to the next level.

(My prediction is that Rice becomes a left CM next season and we go all in for a Kimmich or Tchoumeni type at the 6)

If we do change manager going into next season I do agree the choice will either make or break any anticipation for next season. Tuchel for example would completely kill off any interest for me. There are other "project" managers whether it's Potter, De Zerbi or Amorim for example, but I feel like any manager will get it tough. It's easy to forget that ETH did really well with Ajax and had we not secured him, I don't think it's unlikely that he would have gotten another big job like Bayern Munich by now. (Whether he would do better at another top club is up for speculation ofc)

Personally I would love to see something big like 5 players out 5 players in during the summer but it feels unlikely. Maybe INEOS will make things better but we've been so slow with fixing our squad that by the time one leak is fixed we have two other ones to deal with.

Personally speaking, despite having more questions than answers with EtH, I'd like to see him left in charge over the summer, pretty much regardless of what happens between now & then. Hopefully if we can get a few people in supporting him at a board level with getting dead wood not just shifted, but shifted quickly, in addition to helping him identify players not only better, but outside of his own personal scouting knowledge as most of our signings under him have all come from players he's had experience with either managing them previously or playing in Holland.

I'll cut him some slack this season overall, our injury record has been absolutely appalling, so much so that I would honestly clean house on the entire fitness coaches as well as the physio/medical department. Whatever they're doing between them, hasn't been doing a good job of keeping players fit & judging by how we play, I find it very hard EtH is anymore physically demanding a coach than any other manager.
However we've had such a bad record with injuries all season it's hard to really judge or grasp what's truly going on as we never get any selection or tactical consistency as somebody is always injured.

Wouldn't shock me though if INEOs did part ways with him though even if we did manage to somehow secure CL football, because they didn't appoint him, they aren't as tied to him. I do think though sorting out the appointees behind the scenes should be a more pressing issue. I think overall, EtH's performance is currently acceptable currently given the nature of the situation when he took over IMO.

Bayern in action against Lazio, 1-0 down from the away leg. Kane really needs something in the CL as Bayern look like they might be Fing up the league and are already out of domestic cups.

Bayern now 3-0 up with Kane getting 2.

Mbappe with 2 also for PSG against Real Sociedad.

Same scoreline for City as the United match, but Copenhagen gave them far more of a fight.

Manchester United would do well to look at some of the younger players for that Copenhagen side with a scouting eye, some of them could have a bright future if they continue to progress. The LB(?) who I think can play as a RB also, Elias Jelert in particular, very quick, looked to positively have an impact when he got the ball, seemed composed in possession, probably would be capable playing higher up the pitch also as a winger potentially.

Could be an option if United part ways with AWB, Dalot or even Malacia, I think he's only 20. You could probably get him for under £10m, maybe even less if our new DoF/CEO are negotiating gurus.

Probably cant post it here due to the language contained but the latest Overlap with Gary Neville/Carragher/Keane/Wright is quite an interesting one with Ole Gunnar, asking him about a lot of things on how United was run and his time as manager there. Debunked a few myths as well. Ole will always be a legend to me for his time as player its just a shame he isnt a top class manager as well, no shame in that many have tried and failed at the very highest level

It's on my watch list, probably this evening. Very interesting as a Manchester United fan to hear when the likes of Moyes, LvG, Jose, Rangnick & now Ole have all really thought about their time running the club.

Getting Southgate in as the next manager would put INEOS in the same tier of "GTFO of my club" as the Glazers for me. It would be a shocking appointment

We are up first today against Everton. Still no Hojlund it seems, so I really dont know what sort of result we will get today. No doubt a bang average display either way.

Bruno scores an early pen after Garnacho brought down 1-0.

2-0 Rashford with another pen. Everton are sort of handing this one on a plate to us. We have hardly had an attack but somehow two nil up. We'll take it.

Utd somehow seem to get results here and there among the poor performances and bad results. Very hard to predict exactly where they’ll end up, but they seem to pick up wins enough to hang around at least somewhere in the top 10/7/6.

A win is a win, not going to be remembered as a classic that game but keeps alive our slim chances of top 4/5 but with Spurs playing Villa we will make some ground up at least this week.

Everton probably had more of the ball but they were dire in the two penalty boxes and didnt really ever threaten our goal despite having several good opportunities but they are more wastefull than us in good positions. If not for the two pens would have been a dull 0-0 otherwise though as I dont recall us having another shot at goal. Turgid stuff.

So poor today, purely from a balance perspective, that team shouldn't have played together. You've a collection of players that give the ball away so cheaply & without any pressure, then you've also a player on the pitch that actively hides from taking the ball & even when he does take it, he's useless, it's no shock to see Everton see far more of the ball than they should have, which in turn added unnecessary risk.

It's absolutely infuriating to watch, I'm at least glad EtH acknowledged how poor we were in regards to the lack of composure on the ball.

Rice put Arsenal in the lead but Ramsdale goofed and spent too long on a clearance allowing it to be intercepted and deflected into the goal. Big error there.

Late winner for Arsenal, big win for them with Liverpool and City playing each other this weekend, sends them top for the moment anyway.

Good to at least see them temporarily top to make it look like a 3 way race. It will only become a legit race if City get a couple of duff results, hopefully starting tomorrow. The more times the team at the top changes in the interim, the more I can pretend it’s real.

Yeah makes tomorrows game that little bit more important now and neither side will want to lose it as will make things a lot harder chasing two sides.

I haven’t looked at the fixture list to see who has the tougher run in, but the fact Liverpool are playing City tomorrow makes that late goal all the more valuable. City are strong favourites but Arsenal and Liverpool just have to stick around as long as they can. If they can be there when there are only a few games left, anything can happen.

Liverpool back in it after City took the lead. 1-1 in this huge title match with 16 mins to go.
