Thor: Love and Thunder | Official News and Speculation Thread

Apparently there’s also a Seinfeld episode called “The Big Sallad”. I wonder if there’s some parallels with the movie. Gotta watch the episode. :D

Haha, hopefully they can outdo Ragnarok.

I see some people making negative waves on Twitter about TLT, it’s tone and what has been said about it. A lot of these people have already pre conceived about the project and just wanna hate/diss it.

Interestingly enough I would say that about 70% of these people are either DC or Snyder fans and this is a fact because you can see it either in their profile image, description or previous likes/retweets.

I guess some people are still sour about Ragnarok completely overshadowing Justice League both box office and critically wise.

Thankfully not every DC fan feels the same way and have to vent their frustrations against TLT every single time something is announced about it.

Haters gonna hate. But the love for more thunder shall prevail. :)

As much as I love Ragnarok, I won't deny that there were a few moments in the movie where I felt that the dramatic tension was completely undercut by unnecessary humour with Korg's joke after Asgard's destruction being the most blatant example. I also still don't like the fact that Thor didn't seem to care about the deaths of the Warriors Three. A single reference to them would have sufficed, but alas, no.

Don't get me wrong, Ragnarok is awesome, and I have full faith that L&T will be too, but I think that if Waittiti can improve in any area, it should be in dialling the gags down just a notch for the most emotionally impactful moments. And that is especially so if this movie is going to feature Jane dealing with cancer. It's one thing to joke about a fictional alien planet getting destroyed; its another entirely to joke about a real disease that claims thousands of lives each year.

Hopefully, that boil will be lanced once the Snyder Cut is released.

I agree there were a few moments that I'd definitely have let the emotions of the moment breathe more, the final destruction of Asgard being one along with Odin and the warriors three, although I can see what he was going for with first in the typical grandiose platitude and then nope but it didn't quite work. Hopefully that will be the case in this film.

DC vs Marvel will continue on with whatever film- there's also a few people snarking about Iron Man Jr 3 starting production soon. But this film does seem to have come in for a bit of a battering in certain quarters. Possibly due to the previous films "rivalry", maybe because the premise is so unusual, it features Jane who has previously been "just a random love interest" and people thought Natalie had dumped the franchise nearly a decade ago, the fact that Thor was a dying part of the MCU that manged to reinvent itself to a place where they could go even crazier like this etc

I saw on twitter someone pointing out that in a interview with Australia’s Today, Chris Hemsworth mentioned that he would be filming a Netflix movie this year and then he would jump straight into TLT in January.

I wonder if someone has some info on this.

I can’t see **** but I like this news so I’ll believe it! :awesome:

Makes sense that the cast should be arriving in Australia because we’re basically 2 months away from filming and people still have to quarantine 2 weeks on arrival. Tessa Thompson and Jaimie Alexander should also be flying there soon.

A lot of the cast is already known and some familiar faces should be making a return. Still I do wonder if and when we might be getting some new and exciting casting announcements for TLT.

Wait, it's not been confirmed that Sif's gonna be in this, has it? I know she made some comments a while back that suggested she might be making an appearance, but I was under the impression that nothing had been officially announced.

Nothing has been officially announced but there where quite a few hints a while back that she was going to return. :cwink:

Meh, I'll wait until I see something official before I get my hopes up. Here's Jaimie saying back in 2015 that she was going to have a "pivotal role" in Ragnarok:

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Will Tie into THOR: RAGNAROK

And then we all know what happened. Interestingly, that article was from July 2015 (i.e. before Taika was brought onboard), indicating that it may have been his decision to remove Sif from Ragnarok.

Unfortunately, Sif seems to have fallen into the unfortunate group of "forgotten" MCU characters. But then again, Jane Foster was in that category too until L&T was announced so who knows?

I remember how Sif was "definitely" going to be in Ragnarok as well. Although I believe filming Blindspot in the US may have contributed to her not being there and possibly saved Sif's life. I also saw rumours that she might be appearing in Loki.

It would be nice to see Sif again, although between Jane's story, Valkyrie and everything else going on I don't see a much bigger part than she usually had

Darcy could be a bit much sometimes but I did like her and I appreciated the various things they were trying to do with her by giving the film a human POV character, Jane a female friend and obviously some comic relief. I didn't miss her in Ragnarok but I could have seen her in this, especially if they go the cancer route.

CH stunt double.

Yup, those descriptions all match the appearances of Chris, Tessa and Natalie.

Also notable that Thor's stand-in needs to be "very fit, muscly", basically giving us final confirmation that Thor will no longer be in Lebowski form for L&T.
