Halo Halo: Infinite

Got the campaign pre-installed already (about 29 GB).
It’s good that we can download them separately (like for eg Gears of War). I’m probably waiting for friends to play coop anyway so can save on hard drive space while playing the multiplayer everyday.

Wonder what the overall review scores will be like, guess combining the multiplayer and campaign.

Scores for games almost seem pointless these days, ok perhaps a single player campaign which isnt going to change much but a lot of these games change a lot with add-ons, patches and can look in a very different state 6/12 months down the line with a lot more content added, Ghost Recon Brekpoint has changed a lot for the better in 3 years.

Games seem to have a lot longer life these days, released in almost beta states then worked on to improve all the problems which almost always occur at launch and the community is almost like the quality control these days having to rant and rave to get things fixed. :funny:

Games like Battlefield barely work out the box but after a few months seem to iron out the issues and are much better experience. Not sure that worked for Cyberpunk 2077 mind but hey:funny:

Halo's multiplayer has massive potential but I suspect it will look very different in a years time, with a couple battle passes completed by everyone to give us a lot more customizing options and with more maps/weapons/modes and not to mention the very likely Halo battle royale which seems to be an open secret coming to the game.

Its not always right or great for gamers this way but seems to be the way the industry is these days. Anyway enough of my soap box rant. :sbr:

True enough. Sea of Thieves is a great example, flourishing now but reviewed and received unfavourably on release. Fallout 76 also has improved a lot since the original reveal. If it weren’t for the battle pass conditions early in the beta I think the Infinite multiplayer itself could have reveiwed well. Will be interesting to see how the campaign is received.

Yeah, I occasionally browsed that subreddit for certain topics being discussed for information about the new game and people sharing their fun gaming clips. Lately, however, a lot of the understandable negativity towards the game became completely overblown or just downright ludicrous to the point of drowning out all of the fun, positive posts or injecting negative comments about the game that had nothing to do with what was posted just to complain. And, god forbid you say anything positive about the game or are just having fun, or else you’re supporting the “evil corporate overlords” and get downvoted to oblivion. It’s absolutely disgusting.

I’ve pretty much just defaulted to the Low Sodium Halo subreddit. All of the positive vibes, feedback and criticism without any of the toxicity of the main subreddit.

Also, **** the Halo subreddit mods’ “Both sides are responsible” centrist bulls**t. There is only one side that caused this issue, and those mods are responsible for not cutting it at the roots sooner or else this wouldn’t be happening in the first place. Hope they get called out for their culpability in this and answer for their actions.

Yeah, exactly. Totally fine to have complaints or wishes for future content to be added... But to act THIS entitled? The game isn't even out guys, we got the multiplayer EARLY.

Is this game being released in a different way? Yes. Is it more staggered than we're used to, sure. But is the multiplayer also the first 343 game to have the same sense of simple fun since Halo Reach. HUGE yes.

Seriously, name a major live service game that didn't launch as a more bare bones version of what it ended up becoming. The only ones I can think that haven't done that recently are COD but it's not like they ever change the formula either?

The Halo multiplayer is already so good that it's like, sweet, keep updating it, keep releasing maps and rotating playlists and I'll happily keep playing. Beyond that, I really don't see why people are complaining so much (although I suspect most of the loudest complainers aren't even consistent Halo fans)

The other thing that gets me is, people complaining about the grind clearly have forgotten (or never played) Halo Reach. That game gave out XP so sparingly, you'd play 2 hours to unlock one tiny shoulder pad haha. They've already improved in 3 weeks something Reach never updated in 4 years

Normally align with this dude so good to hear.

What I've seen so far of the story has me concerned theyve fridged cortana and her rebellion. I really wanted to see an AI rebellion and how the humans and other species would deal with having to function without AI.

Does anyone else remember 343 saying they wanted to keep adding Halo Infinite story content for years to come? I haven't seen any public comments on that plan for like 12 months, so wonder if that's been abandoned?

There's only one biome in the game.

I remember yes, that this was supposed to be like a platform to launch future content over the generation.

I would have preferred more variety, although maybe the plan is for the DLCs to take place in very different environments.

Honestly, since it seems to be done well, I'm happy to just have a solid campaign with Halo 1 vibes (environmentally speaking).

I would like to know who was the fool that decided to release this at 1pm EST / 10AM PST on a Wednesday instead of Midnight PST on the 7th.

I was wondering if I read the 1pm release right. Yeah this makes no sense at all.

Day and night shift workers and school kids are all screwed by this release time.

I'll just launch the Xbox app and start the download at 1PM. Once I'm done with work at 6, I hit the play button. :oldrazz:

Damnit, Cortana. I'm sure this is all your fault!:argh:

I'm very excited for this campaign. It feels so good to be excited for a Halo game again, after all this time. Even Destiny 2 is getting in on the hype - I just unlocked a bunch of Halo themed loot for the 30th anniversary event haha

Looking forward to seeing how the semi-open world system affects gameplay on this.

Destiny 2 had Halo loot? Cool haha. They should do a crossover lol.
