Probably because many Nintendo fans grew up playing the games that made Rareware great, and Rareware's classic games have a much more natural appeal to Nintendo's playerbase than they do with Microsofts FPS and realism obsessed playerbase that has little interest in anything older than the hair on their head.
yeah I agree but it's like the mistake with giving Marvel characters to fox movie studio's. now that micro sof has rare, they will never let them (the ip's)go . (only bring this part up as an example)

Marvel is lucky they were able to still use them in some games but now with show it'sa real mess. if it was that the last Ff movie was flop and fox caved recently to ask permission with tv show from the X-men verse to marvel due to all that.....

the big difference here is that rare wanted to be bought and they went with micro soft and most of the people that made the deal with old rare left and are starting over free from micro soft. unlike the whole thing with marvel that were seduced with movie money and just plain weren't thinking if at all.

It really is a s*** situation, the IP's are stuck with Microsoft and a Rareware that has lost the people that made it Rareware, and are being kept exclusive to a playerbase that doesn't appreciate them, I'd pay practically the price of a full game to have Banjo and Kazooie in Smash Bros. since they'd be more than a little appropriate in the roster, but it's more than likely never going to happen for insanely petty reasons.

It would. Were they announced? Well aside from Geno as a mii costume

No. Which is bad, but we did get Knuckles and Tails Mii costumes. I'm starting to feel Corrin shouldn't have been included, but then again I'm not huge FE fan.

im still incredibly annoyed the ice climbers weren't DLC

It's annoying, but their reasons are valid. They couldn't make them work on a technical level with the 3DS. I'm ok with excluding them because they wanted to keep that synchronicity between the Wii U and 3DS. However, I think if they really wanted to they could have made Ice Climbers and Wii U exclusive and then someone like Wolf or Pichu a 3DS exclusive. It's an easy go around.

Its annoying. A console game should not suffer because of a hand held system....

I wouldn't say it suffered. We've got a 58 person roster across two platforms.

Not happening. This latest Direct sounded pretty darn final.

Wed, I break out Smash again (may also pick up a few of the other DLC characters I wanted). Though I will mainly be practicing with Bayonetta.

Two new gameplay videos released.

Smash-Bros-Bayo-Feb-4-Dated.jpg

Corrin from Fire Emblem Fates and Bayonetta from the Bayonetta series will be added to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for Nintendo 3DS as playable characters on February 4, Nintendo announced at Tokaigi 2016.
Corrin will launch at $4.99 for each platform, or $5.99 for both platforms together. The character will be playable in both male and female variations.

The add-on will include two songs from Fire Emblem Fates. The 3DS version will also add trophies of Ryoma and Xander from Fire Emblem Fates.

Bayonetta will launch at $5.99 for each platform, or $6.99 for both platforms together. She comes in two variations: the blue costume from Bayonetta 2 and the original costume from the first game. There’s also a color variation inspired by Jeanne. The add-on will include the “Umbra Clock Tower” stage from the original Bayonetta, as well as some songs from both Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, and Bayonetta, Jeane, Rodin, and Cereza trophies, too.

Yup. Excited for Bayonetta. Going to be practicing against Pit, Dark Pit, and Palutena.

DLC came sooner than I thought. I figured we'd get them a few days before Fire Emblem launched.

Yeah, was expecting them at the end of Feb., not the beginning, but I am very glad.

Bayonetta is kinda tricky to get a hang of. I love the **** out of Corrin. So much fun.

Super Smash Bros. Creator Masahiro Sakurai On Keeping Things Fresh With New Fighters. February 10, 2016 . 8:30am

Sakurai recently contributed a column in Famitsu,
wherein he spoke in-depth about the challenges of keeping such a well-known series such as Smash Bros. fresh and enjoyable.

Super Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai recently contributed a column in Famitsu, wherein he spoke in-depth about the challenges of keeping an established series such as Smash Bros. fresh and enjoyable after so many years. [Thanks, Nintendo Everything.]

He started off by talking about Super Smash Bros. DLC, and how new characters were implemented to offer unique gameplay. These include Corrin and Bayonetta, who were added to the game earlier this month. Corrin brings his transformation powers and super range to the game, while Bayonetta makes use of special combos, gun shots, and Witch Time.

Next, Sakurai went on to say that Smash Bros. series has a ton of different ways to play, which is supported by the data that the average play time of the games is very long. As a result, there’s always major exhaustion, or rather, a high tendency of becoming bored with the game. To combat this, Sakurai explains that, while new ideas must be added to help keep the game fun, they must also refrain from tampering with basic game rules. For instance, while implementing new features such as making the game 3D or adding more gauges might add a fresh perspective, this is at the cost of possibly displeasing the majority of the fanbase.

Sakurai continued by noting that Super Smash Bros. is more than just creating a single game. The addition of even one new character brings with it the challenge of supporting that fighter along with the game they originated from. As a result, they consider the game rule to be the “hardware”, and each fighter as “software” while creating the title. Additionally, because each character in the game’s roster is so unique and can do things that other characters cannot, they must work that much harder to make sure that fights can be established properly.

Sakurai then concluded, saying that it’s the players who actually use the characters, and each person has his or her own strategy. Even if users simply spam Smash Attacks, if it’s fun for them, then it’s okay. Those who want to play in that sort of style will aim for easier controls after all.

Super Smash Bros. Director Sakurai Wanted Geno To Be Playable. February 22, 2016 . 9:30am

During a recent interview with Nintendo Dream, Masahiro Sakurai mentioned
about having wanted to put Geno in the game as a playable character.

During an interview with Nintendo Dream, Super Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai talked a bit about Geno, a character from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. [Thanks, Source Gaming.]

While Geno did eventually join Super Smash Bros. in the form of a Mii costume, Sakurai mentioned in the interview about wanting to have Geno as an actual playable character in Brawl, as well as Smash Bros. for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

However, although he only exists as a Mii costume, Sakurai did note Geno’s popularity, especially in regards to older characters, so perhaps there is still a chance we will see the character as playable one day.

Super Smash Bros. is available for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS.

StreetPass UK recently got the chance to speak with Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono and asked the Street Fighter producer what other characters from the series he would like to see in Super Smash Bros. [Thanks, NintendoEverything.]

“It could be fun to have a grapple character like Zangief, or maybe Blanka could be fun,” Ono said. “He could roll toward the screen and come back again.”

Ono also went on to say he would like to see something more along the lines of Nintendo vs. Capcom after being asked which Smash Bros. characters would fit well in a Street Fighter game.

Check out the video below to see the entire interview.
