That $10 for the PS4 version of a game by using the PS3 disc is a great deal,IF games like GTA V&WWE2K14 eventually gets ports then I can just use the PS3 discs instead of buying them again
I feel like these upgrade deals won't extend to something like GTAV, which if it does come out on PS4 will be an HD version with all the DLC included. This $10 upgrade is going to probably just be for the launch window games that have cross-gen versions.
t:cool!! ( and yes, pun intended.....lol )
I guess I probably didn’t follow the gaming press as closely in those days as I do now so I may have missed some of this. But it’s a well known fact how unbelievably immature the Xbox fanboys were back then. A lot of people don’t like Microsoft and their practises over the last decade so you’re not alone. I was never even slightly tempted to get the 1st Xbox!Well it's completely ironic. Because during the PS3, if Sony did a little something the press/fanboys would go all over it. IGN covered up a lot of the RROD problems, as did the entire press which was a huge ordeal. So it seems the tables have turned. But I think Sony has done way better, in almost every way. And they will continue to do so. MS as a whole company I really don't care for, the way they have done business over the past 20 years eh. I originally loved the first X-Box, but then they changed a lot of their goals and I've been skeptical about them since.
I agree that a good amount of the positive news is just reinstating various things that should have been there in the 1st place for many fans but there have been plenty of other good news articles and every single one attracts the same stupid negative comments from the same commenters. If an unquestionably good story comes out that Microsoft are giving away $1,000 to every gamer, $100B to charity & $20B each to Sony & Nintendo to encourage good relations amongst the companies and their fans, the same idiot commenters will call it an act of desperation, a publicity stunt or something like that without acknowledging that there was anything at all positive. And I never found Sony guys to be incapable of giving balanced responses in the past. Xbox guys yes but most of those kids have either disappeared or.. grown up? (no, don’t be silly!).The problem is the positive news is really just them getting rid of the terrible things that so many fanboys including tons on the Hype Xbox area were fine with. Then when they got rid of them they acted like "Oh ya I guess that's cool" after praising them for doing so. Sony has better in house studios, and seems to be out for blood in making sure they get some good deals with third party devs ect.
Two wrongs…But I agree with a lot of what you are saying. But the last part, to me it's almost humorous because for years the press/Xbox fans (EGM's famous cover of throwing tomatoes at the PS3) ripped on Sony to no end. And now it seems the shoe is on the other foot and they don't like it all of a sudden.
Which games did you get? I haven’t decided yet. Will probably be games that have good multiplayer or Destiny style co-op so that I can replay them a lot as I will still be using my old consoles a lot over the next few years trying to clear out my huge backlog of old games. Need to decide on one main single player game to focus on (first) though. Preferably something that will be good to show off the new console to friends. But on to PS4 stuff, I have my console a few games/an extra controller, DVD remote and vertical stand on my list of things I will get launch day.
Seems like Driveclub won't exactly be the new Forza/Turismo though. The PS+ version of Driveclub contains the full game's trophy list and will be available on PS+ into next year.

So the only real difference between the "free" version and the full retail are a few missing cars and tracks.
So I'm kinda facing a dilemma here. I have a launch PS4 pre-ordered from Amazon, and I did it when I didn't have a job. I figured that somehow I would be able to afford it, and if not, I would either cancel it or let my brother take it. Fast forward to now, I have a job and I can start saving soon so I can afford it and maybe a game by the time it releases.
However, with this job, my gaming life has been non-existence as I haven't touched my PS3 since I started. I barely have any time to do anything when I get home and my weekends have been so busy with me trying to catch up on everything else that I don't feel like I have enough time to play as much as I'd like. So now I don't know if I should keep my pre-order and pay it myself, or if I should let my brother have it instead and wait a few months for things to calm down for me. I didn't plan on getting the PS4 right away anyway since part of me wanted to wait to see any hardware issues that might needed to be fixed, and I figure if my brother takes it, I can always go to his house to see it without worrying about anything happening to it.
How may hours do you work per day mate?So I'm kinda facing a dilemma here. I have a launch PS4 pre-ordered from Amazon, and I did it when I didn't have a job. It's not so much that I didn't want it, because my excitement about gaming was a full 10 since I felt like I had so much time for it. I was just worried that I would be scrapping together money to get a PS4 and that the chance of something being wrong with it early on would not make it worth it. But now things have changed where I can afford it if I really wanted it, but I just don't have the time for it, so who knows how long it'll sit in my room without even being touched. If you didn't really want a PS4 right away, I'd suggest you let your brother have your preorder.
then, you can focus on work, save up money, and wait till next year or later to get a PS4 yourself. that way, you can let the bugs and kinks work their way out, and you could always go to your brother's house to test it out on occasion.
plus, more games will be available next year.
I work from 9am-6pm on the weekdays, but then there's also the time it takes me to commute and wake up in the morning, so my days are normally taken up from 6am-8pm. So in the couple of hours that I have before its time to go to sleep, I have to find some dinner, get my clothes ready for the next day and maybe spend a few minutes online. How may hours do you work per day mate?

But I think I will just let my brother take it. It' not going to cost me anything and it'll just be less stress to deal with since I'm also trying to save up money to move out. I think I'll consider buying it in February once inFamous comes out, since that's my most anticipated next gen game.

I have the weekends free, but I use those mostly to catch up with people/things or go out and get anything that I might need for the week, so that free time usually flies by too.
I'd get it just to have it when I could play it.
The thing that I'm more concerned with in that case is having my brother or nephew messing around with it while I'm at work. I've already found games missing or out of the cases because they have no respect for my stuff and I can't lock up my room. I've even gone as far as hiding my controllers and stuff, but they still search the house to find it.I'd get it just to have it when I could play it.
That's the other thing though. I've pretty much given up on TV as well. Heck, I've gone entire weeks without even turning on my television.I see.
Is that a 2 hour commute?! Maybe you should get a Vita/3DS then. Unless you're driving that is!
My commute is only 1 hour so that saves 2 hours every weekday. And I've pretty much given up other home based leisure interests like watching TV to focus on gaming.
Is your commute actually near 2 hours 'cause if so I can see why you'd have hardly any free time at home. And I don't really get into handhelds too much either aside from simplistic games. Hopefully you get a chance with GTA V!That's the other thing though. I've pretty much given up on TV as well. Heck, I've gone entire weeks without even turning on my television.
As for handhelds, I have my nephew's DS but it just doesn't interest me enough to want to play on the train. The last handheld type of game that I played was Candy Crush on my phone, and I stopped playing that after a while too. Not to mention, half of the time I'm squeezing in between people on the train and barely have space to move, so my hands wouldn't be free anyway.
But I'm going to see what happens when GTA V comes out because I am definitely getting that the day it comes out. For most other games that have come out in the last couple of months, I've decided to wait for sales since Gamefly doesn't seem like it would be worth it with my schedule. But I know most games like Splinter Cell, the Last of Us, and even something later like Assassin's Creed 4 will be at least half price on Black Friday, so I figure I might as well wait. But with GTA, I don't see the price dropping for a while and that game looks too awesome to pass up, so I'll see how I can manage to use that to get back into gaming.
IF there was an option to reset/turn off or at least set to private Trophies..Would you?,I'm someone who never cared for Achievements&Trophies but am embarrassed to not have any Platinum trophies and hope no one ever sees my profile to check them out
I'd love an option to at least set them to private so whenever someone goes to my profile it'd only show my PSN ID and languages I speak,I don't even want my level 10 number to show up next to my ID on my friend's list
