Yeah, he's definitely going to depart sometime soon.

yea, affleck looks awesome in the batsuit.

Let's try and keep this thread on track....it's for discussing Ben Affleck playing Batman.

Keep the generalizations about people out of here.....keep the name calling out of here. Be civil.

Folks didn't get this memo.

With respect, a man with depression and other mental issues caused by his dysfunctional upbringing, entering into an altercation with his own family members, which was dropped with no further action by the police... is not the same as a man sexually assaulting a woman.

Both Afflecks seem like they might have issues with alcoholism themselves, Ben we know for sure. People have been quoted quite a few times in the industry referring to Affleck as having "his demons." When I see Affleck these past couple of years, it seems like he is struggling with depression.

I don't know how he was brought up, but it seems like his alcoholism and emotional health has led him to make very poor decisions.

I've always seen a lot of influence from David Finch's Batman Inc. design as well.

The picture of Affleck in the Batsuit is OK.....but when I mostly read Batman comics they were being drawn by two of the best....Neal Adams and Jim Aparo. To me Bats is more lean. He's muscular but not blocky.

Aparo, Adams, and Breyfogle all the way. Not a fan of Batman drawn as a hulking brute.

I think Ben needs help. The drinking, the fluctuation in weight, the Botox injections, the divorce, and the obvious emotional disconnect from his role as Batman. I think this should be taken as a cry for help, he definitely has issues.

People can hate and shun him, or they can try to forgive and support him to get help and improve on his life. Maybe it's me, but I would rather see the guy take a long break to get his life back in order and reflect on his mistakes, then to see people chase him with torches and pitchforks.

This. If I'm in Affleck's ear, having worked as a therapist in treatment centers myself, so I know how different people can be when they are using vs when they aren't, I would encourage Affleck to make a statement and just be real and upfront about his struggles with alcoholism, that when drinking, he has done things that he is not proud of, and he is working hard on managing his addiction in order to be a better person and father... that it hurts him that he has hurt other people, and that he is working on the 12 Steps so that he can, in part, look at his own struggles, and when the time comes, make ammends to those he has wronged.

If he can deliver this message in an authentic, earnest way, I think that would make a difference.

This is how I see Batman as well. I get TDKReturns influence here, but that isn't prime time Batman for me.

I think the thing that looks off about Affleck's bat-suit is the creases in it like cloth seem a bit weird. Like it doesn't look like it should have those creases and wrinkles in it.

Agreed. I thought Christian Bale in Begins had the perfect physique for Batman. The Affleck suit looked a bit silly in Suicide Squad. He looked overstuffed and puffy.

Puffy is definitely a good word for it.

The same complaint the Begins suit got, although I never really understood it. The only problem with that suit was was how the cowl didn't quite work with Bale's face at times.

I think the difference might be that the BvS was deliberately engineered to look that big, whereas the Begins suit puffiness was largely due to issues with construction and fit. The technology for these kinds of comic book suits has done on in leaps and bounds in the last ten years.

I guess it just bugs me more in BvS. Affleck had a great physique... he didn't need all that padding (even if they were goinig for a DKR feel).

If he hangs around, I hope they slim the suits down.

Yeah, I agree. All they wanted to do was ape Frank Miller, so Affleck ended up a lot bigger than he needed to be.

I was always partial to Graham Nolan's Bats myself.

I also loved Aparo's Batman. My favorite is probably Alan Davis

YES! I finally come across someone who appreciates Davis' fine work in Batman. Not to say that he's my favorite Batman artist, but I never see him mentioned at all. Probably didn't have a long enough tenure.

Alan Davis has done a lot of work. His Batman was alright, but when you've got Aparo, Colan, Gulacy, Bolland, Adams, Mazz, Finch, etc.

Yeah, the length of his tenure is the issue for Davis, I think. Tho as I recall, he did his first U.S. stint on B/Outsiders, and also, as far as any Bat action goes, the Nail, one of my favorite Elseworlds.

@Patchwork, lot of great names, no doubt, tho personally, I always found Colan's style muddy, but loved his run (as well as his run on Dr. Strange)
