Superhero Cinematic Civil War - Part 57

I think one day it will happen but not for a long long time.

Why would they do it though?
Yes I know they did in the 90s but that was a different time and that was the comics. Now both companies are owned by these huge conglomerates that are in competition with each other.

I know the easy answer is "split the money 50/50" but that's still not that simple when you take certain things into account.

And you don't really see largely competitive companies doing collabs at that level nowadays unless it's for political (environment, futurist, etc.) causes. You don't see Coke and Pepsi joining forces to release a new soda. You don't see Sony and Microsoft teaming up to make a brand new console. They're competitors for a reason.

Like DC/WB and Marvel/Disney teaming up wouldn't be the same thing as Sony joining up with the MCU. It may seem similar but it isn't the same

As Spidey_62 mentioned, it's not gonna happen unless they're both in dire straits. And even then it's not a guarantee it'll happen.

Anyway, has anyone tried the Batman: A Death in the Family interactive movie? I also wish DC would just release all these movies on HBO Max. I can't imagine they're getting that that much on Blu Ray/VOD anymore. Even with their low budgets. I think that would be a good addition to HBO Max. Especially if they're gonna do any more of those interactive ones
I was going to until I heard that a lot of the footage was from Under the Red Hood. Does anyone know if that is true?

Everything you said makes total absolute sense. But Hollywood in the last decade has been on a hotstreak of doing things that many of us said “this will never ever happen, it wouldnt make sense” So i’m kind of feel like we should never say never.

like what?

I can't think of anything movie related this decade that was that that crazy.

EDIT: And even then, any event like that in that last decade would be nowhere near as crazy as two massive media conglomerates, two rival film studios, and two dueling superhero imprints putting aside the fact that they are the highest of competitors to create a product together.
Could it happen sure. Anything COULD happen. But it's kinda silly to put it in the "never say never" camp at this point unless one studio buys the other

But no harm in dreaming

Absolutely. I mean who saw the Fox/ Disney acquisition happening? I know, Disney and WB working together is a much more far fetched thing but...just sayin, you never know ;)

Also, speaking of strange things, what do you guys thinks up with this??

A quickie Q&A with Tatiana Maslany, who denies she's She-Hulk

Jason Momoa(scroll down for the comments as the video isn’t available) and Paul Rudd also did the same thing...until they were able to talk about it. Don’t forget, once they sign the contracts, these people are bound by NDA and aren’t always allowed to immediately talk about it.

The Fox Disney acquisition wasnt/isnt that farfetched and an acquisition isnt nearly as out there as a full on collab. One is one eating the other for dinner. The other is eating side by side.

But it is what is is

“My understanding is that the old-line executives don’t want to go over the top with their big tentpole movies, which is why they announced they were pushing ‘Black Widow” and other movies to 2021,” Loeb said. “I don’t think they appreciate the tiger they have by the tail, which is to say the value they can drive by moving into a subscription model, which has been adopted by everyone from Microsoft to Amazon. It’s so value accretive.”
Is what's avtually said in the article to save you a click.

I mean they could. But Disney+ is in its infacy. Same with HBO Max. I don't why everyone expects them to be on Netflix level this early in their inception. Even with a huge names behind them, it can take years for a product to truly truly take off. Especially once they haven't fired all their weapons yet

Only way big tent-pole movies will end up on streaming is if the situation doesn't improve next year, even then I see them releasing them simultaneously in theaters in some countries like China, Japan, Australia, NZ and maybe some other EU countries next year.

Exactly, Netflix didnt come out the gate greenlighting $200 million dollar films. They had to play the long game. No doubt Black Widow featuring exclusively on Disney + will see a nice sizable bump in subscriptions but enough to foot the bill for the movie? Not even close.

I mean doesn't it depend when it's released? If it's released next year, Disney+ may have more than a half a dozen different shows between Marvel and Star Wars. At 6-8 episodes each, that'll be almost the whole year.

Doubt it. The entire theater industry has been essentially destroyed. NOTHING is going to be making what it was pre-pandemic. Not for a long, long time.

Yeah, you're right of course. I was kind of thinking in terms of an ideal post-Covid world, which as you point out, isn't likely to materialise for a long, long time (if ever).

I finished Earth’s Mightiest Heroes today and it’s definitely one of the best animated superhero shows of all time. Sad we’ll never get a third season but at least it didn’t end on a cliffhanger like Spectacular Spider-Man did.

By the way, has anyone seen this?
"Magic & Mutants" would have been AVENGERS: EARTH'S MIGHTIEST HEROES Season 3 according to Christopher Yost - The Beat

We might have gotten a second animated Dark Phoenix adaption in this series, which would be odd, since this was not an X-Men show but I’m sure it would be spectacular nonetheless.

EMH is so so good. Its so lovingly faithful to the Stan Lee/ Jack Kirby comics and yet feels very contemporary. I’m actually rewatching the series myself now too. I’m thankful we got the 52 episodes we did. That was the last quality animated thing Marvel has produced.
