Anyone see Spain Germany? I didn’t but it apparently ended 6-0 with Ferran Torres getting a hat-trick!
I saw the highlights of that masacre. Not pretty at all

Germany looked like a bunch of amateurs

After crashing out of the 2018 World Cup and today’s result, I can see Joachim Low getting the axe

Yeah, maybe he’ll be at risk. I will check the highlights later, thanks. I didn’t realise they had lost their mojo to this extent, especially with Bayern looking supreme in the last year.

Seems that a lot of the Euro giants go through bad spells after winning the World Cup. Aside from Germany, Spain, Italy and France come to mind. But France picked it up and won in 2018

I was also surprised to see Colombia get rag dolled by Ecuador 6-1 yesterday. They’re gonna have a tough time in the qualifiers

I know they felt like they needed a change, but they don't have any defenders better then Boateng and Hummels. Also forcing Mueller into retirement looks rather awful at the moment.

Most of the European sides, when they win it, do so when they peak. They kind of have a build up to the win and then a bit of a nature fall off as they become an older side.

Germany: From 2006-2014, they appeared in a WC semis, a Euro final, a WC semis, a Euro semis, and the won the WC.

Spain: Won the Euros twice along with their WC over a 6 year span.

France: France won the WC and Euros back to back, and had an injured Zidane at WC 2002.

Italy: Their victory in 2006 was honestly a shock, as it felt like their big chance was in 2002. Plus, it's Italy. They had a rather old team for a long time. :hehe:

I am so curious what happens with this France side, because they started coming into form in 2016 with their Euro final loss, but they are still so good and so young. They could legitimately repeat in 2022 imo. Especially with all the younger talent they are bringing through.

I think one big factor in all of this, is the European dominance at the WC since 1990. Brazil won two titles in that span, but more and more, the Europeans have become super dominate. 6 titles out of 8. So when a European side slips, it's more noticeable. When Brazil suck now, they do it while losing in the Quarters.

England conclude their Nations League campaign with a 4-0 over Iceland including 2 goals from Foden. At least it finishes on a positive note.

Pep signs 2 year contract extension with City.

I've heard a lot of talk lately about both CR returning to MU and Messi to City, and with no disrespect to these 2 giants, 2 of the best footballers ever, to me that just sounds stupid and not very forward planning at all.

Like in theory if we brought back a 36 year old Ronaldo with the money he would cost (and wage he would lift) I would honestly feel sad for the state of our club. Sure if he came here on the cheap and took a modest salary because he wants to finish here, but we know that wouldn't be the case.

Chelsea can go top if they beat us in the early kick off today. Also Spurs vs City later today.

I don't want Ronaldo back, but isn't the idea that he would comeback with Pogba going the other way, and thus cost nothing in terms of a transfer fee?

Possibly but I'm still not a fan of the idea. Guess I prefer to sign players that will improve the team in the long run. :p

Chelsea are now top of the league (how many different leaders have we already had this season?), after beating us 2-0.

Spurs 2-0 up against City!

Good win for Spurs, City arent the same without an Aguero, Pep at least now has time to build a new team with his extension but not sure they will win a lot this season, we shall see what happens in Jan though, might spend big........

Yep, Aguero was a world class operator for them. They need to think about the long term replacement for him. Spurs now top lol. A new leader every 2 mins.

Woeful stuff from us for about 90% of the game, particularly the 1st half in which we were slow, safe, lethargic & mundane with the way we went about the game.. almost inviting a winless West Brom to have a go. As opposed to immediately putting our foot on their neck from the opening whistle.

Had a few moments here & there in the second in which we did play better, but still not great.. bailed out again by another penalty.

Fernandez gets Ole out of trouble with a penalty in a 1-0 win over West Brom. Utd up to 9th, City out of the top 10.

3 points is 3 points and you arent going to get your best after an international break but its not very inspiring stuff is it. Up to the dizzy heights of 9th though and above City and Arsenal though so thats something but not much else. We cant really seem to create clear openings too often against these sorts of sides, its a struggle for us. Got a bit lucky with the pen being taken twice as well to be honest, WBA could have easily gotten a draw out of the game.

Seems like its going to be tight league though so that will keep us in the hunt of things around the top 4, everyone is struggling to find top form it seems.

We have the talent to break down teams, but no strategy or method of play to do so. We are so disjointed it's just... ugh.

Noone is looking consistent yet, which means it's surprising that the PL teams have started well in Europe. Hopefully it turns into a great top 4 and title race as the season goes on.

Thanks for that. I hope you guys can turn it around. You’ve won the odd cup here and there but it’s been a long time since you were genuinely good and Wenger’s teams’s performances started deteriorating. I always used to love watching Arsenal in the past. A London team that played great attacking football and competed for the top prizes. I hope those days return one day if you can sort your problems at the top out.

Btw I really hope you stick around here long term. One of the best new guys to join the thread in a long time!:cool::cwink:

Thanks man. We're just going to have to wait and see how it pans out in all departments, but I don't think our fan base is very patient. They want success now, but it's going to be a long haul and a bumpy ride, I feel.

I'll try and pop in more often. :D I signed up to the forums ages ago, but I only really show up if either there's something big going on in the Comic Book Movie World, or I have some free time.
