X-Men - Part 8

Inferno is Hickmen's last X-Book for now and "starting in January the X-Line will rocket forward starting with a weekly series that leads into the very cool, refocused, line of books." At least they said they are keeping and adding to the current team, so it doesn't sound like a full reboot. They wouldn't reboot X-Men Vol 6 six issues in, but new type of status quo I'm guessing. And Duggan might be writing the weekly series?

Well that was quick...
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a new clean slate which should be eXciting to me.
Well he basically said the main reason he was leaving is that people are sticking to the status quo he created and that with Inferno he's setting up the next part of that.

He was also supposed to oversee the X-Men comiXs for 3 years which isn't happening anymore.

Plans changed and it will probably change, once Marvel wants to launch books or relaunch again. This is nothing out of the ordinary. I was skeptical when it was reported he was gonna oversee the X-Men for years. The only uneXpected part for me is, it was his choice (not Marvel) to move on to another material.

And of course no writer is going to say an upcoming comic book they are working on, is going to be irrelevant after its done.

Anyway, I Can't wait for this era to finally come to end. And finally they remembered Moira still eXists, who who suddenly was MIA after house/powers of X finished.

Oh, I'm not saying that Marvel won't inevitably relaunch the whole thing again (they will). It just doesn't seem this is that.

House of X and Powers of X ushered in The First Krakoan Age of the X-Men. Now, Marvel Comics' X Lives of Wolverine and X Deaths of Wolverine will test 'the best there is at what he does' before any mutant can survive to The Second Krakoan Age. Benjamin Percy, Joshua Cassara and Federico Vicentini tell two interlocked tales about what happens to Wolverine when…His Pasts Meet His Future.

Another confirmation from Marvel that Krakoa really is here to stay. Inferno will burn some things down, we'll get a new status quo post-Hickman, but we'll also enter the Second Krakoan Age at some point down the line. Probably just their version of Hickman's act 2.

We should get a better picture if Krakoa will really stay in 2023 or 2024... as that would mean the Krakoa era lasted at least for 5years. But given how Marvel relaunches and does these "events" in a regular basis. I cannot be too sure.

I'm hoping at least some catastrophic events are planned when they do leave Krakoa, as they set this island very ambitious and it would be a waste if its just abandoned or suddenly gone in an instant.

I think Krakoa is going to stick around. I feel bad for Hickman, writers block is rough. But that does explain why Howard co wrote Swords of X and why Duggan did Planet Sized and took over the main book. I suspect that Spurrier's work on Way of X may be being repurposed to ending the resurrection protocols. And that's the thing, Krakoa can change, it doesn't have to remain static.

I do feel bad for Leah Williamson. She got screwed over with X-factor. Marvel apparently liked her pitch so much, they wanted to make it an "event", thus, cancelling X-factor and Trial of Magneto. And from the advertisements in my books, it looks like they are going full big Marvel Wanda event. And even worse, not only was her book cancelled and rushed the ending, they apparently rewrote and redid scenes in the final book.

I feel like I missed an interview or something somewhere. Where did you get the details about writers block and the rewritten scenes for X-Factor? I wasn't able to find either of those things.

Upon review, I may have misread Hickman's quote.

How do you guys feel about X-men Gold/Blue? The art seems Really Nice but what about the story?

The Guggenheim and Bunn books, just before Hickman's relaunch? Bunn's X-men Blue was fine. Guggenheim's X-men Gold was trash.

Getting a little caught up, X-men 3 was fun. Fun seeing Remender's last marvel books being referenced. I miss Remender.

Onslaught Revelation was neat. Not necessarily extra dollar neat, but nice conclusion to the arc. Fun stuff with Cortez. Really enjoyed the new look for Onslaught, taking more after Xavier's current look. Really glad to see confirmation that Spurier will be sticking around. Looks like a neat team.

So I read "Inferno" and I wonder with all these ideas, why they keep recycling titles/names from the previous comiXs (Hellions, Fallen Angels, Marauders, X-Corp, Children of the Atom). Something like "Fate of X" would have been fitting as the final X-Men story of Hickman. So yeah I don't get why its called as "Inferno".

Honestly I'm happy it's not another "of X" title. We've had more than enough of those lately.

I would rather have "____ of X" than the copy of a previous title. Inferno as a title doesn't make sense and as a title it is a blatantcopy of a previous X-Men story. Like I said _____ of X is more fitting to House of X and Power of X, as this is serving as the finale of Hickman's X-Men run. But it is what it is.

I believe Cypher fully fused with Krakoa.

Anyway, I enjoyed Inferno. Destiny is a logical choice for the inner circle. And I do look forward to Xavier and Magneto getting their comuppance.

Also, really, really hope Ewing is going to be sticking around with Sword. Love how he writes Storm.

Thank you very much.

Of course another villain is inducted to the Quiet council.

I wonder who's the other new council member.;nd

Adjectiveless is boring to me. I feel like I should be enjoying it because of the roster but I don't feel anything but indifference.

I mean, I am fairly certain 2 members will be out by the end of Inferno.

It's been a while, but this week I got through DoX vol 7 and 8.
X-Force and Wolverine is the highlight in these 2 books, though I really liked that X-Men issue with the ritual of being born again. Excalibur and Marauders have been okay but not so much more than that.
I'm starting to realize that these books aren't as cohesive in chronology as I was led to believe between the different series', and I kinda wish I had just gotten the oversized books for each series instead, but I am already into deep with these trades now.

X of Swords is probably a good point to jump to the individual series.
