No Europa League, Ole is a master tactician.
Very true. It means Utd can focus on losing domestic league matches only once they are out of all the cups. :D

MU 0 - 2 Atalanta

Does MU need to lose badly at home against Liverpool for Solskjaer to leave?
I can already see some signs of players starting to leave ship.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ronaldo starts losing interest at some point. Not enough chance to boost his stats here and trophies look a long way off.

A Jorginho pen makes it 2-0 Chelsea over Malmo.

Booed off at half time, not sure how he is still in the job but maybe a second half fight back will make him think we can be CL contenders, lol.

Shambles all round, defense all over the place, midfield getting over run and cant finish the few chances we do create (doenst help they keep falling to Fred either mind).

He hasnt got a clue at this level.

Apparently Atalanta have 5 first teamers out injured. Lucky they had Utd this week!

Ole's strategic ability and inspired subs will be key in the second half. ie ****!

Nice finish by Rashford (after a few misses) from a good ball from Fernandes. 2-1.

They can still turn this around. For starters MU needs a new coach ASAP. Maybe bring in Conte and tweak the team into a 3-5-3 to make space for some of these players while making this group of talented players into a better team with a stronger identity.

Last but not least, in the January transfer window sell some unnecessary players to make room for 2 or 3 important signings. 1 good centre-back, 1 good defensive midfield and 1 forward.
- A centre-back to stabilize that defense. Preferably someone experienced that could play alongside Varane. Maguire and Lindelof would stay to give the squad depth and fight for that 3rd spot.
- A more defensive minded midfielder capable of balancing out the team. Someone that can impose himself defensively in front of the defensive line and hold the game by the horns when needed.
- A classic nr 9 to add firepower inside the box.

MU 3 - 2 Atalanta
Maguire draws and CR scores the 3rd.

These Ronaldo moments are keeping me alive at the moment although he is keeping Ole in a job as well. :funny:
Ole got another breath of oxygen with this result.
But i do think that this will likely do more harm than good in the long term.

It's worth mentioning that this Atalanta is in 6/7th place in Serie A.

Yeah struggling to get 3 points at home against Atalanta is not impressive at all, exciting win for sure but you have to say its pretty poor overall not some great comeback that the pundits are making it out to be.

A better side would wipe the floor with this lot and not let us back in it, struggling in a pretty poor group to be honest. Liverpool on Sunday will be a bigger indicator of where this team really is, our defending is shambolic and was all game even in the second half at times, gifting some clear openings that better players will exploit.

These pack of bastards are gonna give me a heart attack.

Started lackadaisical in the first half & were fully punished, that being said we were unfortunate to maybe go in 2 goals down because Rashford, Fred & Ronaldo all missed 3 or 4 good chances. None the less we went in 2-0 down & over the course of the whole half it wasn't the worst performance I've ever seen because at least we were showing creativity & life.

Second half we were much better all round, created multiple good chances & could have scored 5 or 6.

All in all I'd say it was a mixed bag performance, extremely worrying start with Liverpool on the horizon, all over the place defensively, but after going 2-0 down we mostly played well & created enough chances that we could have buried them.

The Ole-survival cycle is cranking up for another spin it seems. Rinse and repeat.

You'd think Atalanta were a literal pub team listening to Scholes.

The players save Ole once more, like with Villarreal. They could easily be on zero points right now.

Central midfield is crucial for sure. I think they won’t want to displace Maguire after paying so much for him. A new coach has to be top of the list though!

Under SAF I would be super hyped after a comeback like this one but under Ole it just makes me feel emotionless. When 'just barely scraping a win in the 80th minute after being down earlier in the game' becomes the norm, a game like tonight doesn't really mean anything. If anything it probably hurts us more long term than it helps.

Oh well, Liverpool on Sunday. Fun.

They literally bought a centre back and a number 9 this summer?
