Hiring Tom Cruise to an action movie franchise in 88 does sound like a solid investment. You could potentially still use him 30 years later. t: Still, young Aidan Quinn as Cyclops is one of the picks I'm happiest with. He had the look, the broody intensity and an interesting voice that would have made up for the lack of being able to act with his eyes.

I think you're right about Roberts. These days her celebrity status tends to overshadow her acting but back then she would have been perfect.
