I actually thought about Flynn as Sinclair at first but I went with Olivier because of his strong resemblance to the young Timothy Dalton.

I also thought of Hughes as well at first . I know he did directing , but I'm not sure if he ever did any acting in his own films . But yeah, I'm sure if it were made back then, they probably would have just gone to Hughes and he might've said yes.

Nice one for Die Hard; I did one a few years ago with James Coburn as John, Christopher Lee as Hans, and with the additions of Ray Charles as Theo and Lee J. Cobb (aka Juror No. 3 from 12 Angry Men) as Dwayne T. Robinson. Absolutely love Robert Shaw as Karl.

For the Great Gazoo, I guess they could have gone with his voice actor Harvey Corman

I actually never realized he supplied the voice. I always thought Gazoo was based off of Ray Walton of My Favorite Martian.
