Nearly 6,000 players have been banned from online play Pokémon Sun & Moon. In an official announcement it was revealed that the players had been banned because they had “engaged in unauthorized modification of their game data.”

You can read all about it in the announcement below which further details the full extent of the ban and what kind of actions will be taken in the future.
Thank you for using the Pokémon Global Link.
It has come to our attention that a small number of players participating in Rating Battles, Online Competitions, and Global Missions have engaged in unauthorized modification of their game data.
As a result, we have taken the following action against these 5,954 players:
– They will be excluded from the rankings of any Rating Battle they have participated in thus far.
– They will not be able to participate in any future Online Competitions.
– They will no longer be able to use Game Sync, play in Rating Battles, or participate in Online Competitions or Global Missions using the game with which they performed unauthorized data modification.
When affected players try to use Game Sync or participate in Rating Battles or Online Competitions, they will receive the following message:
******************************************
The connection to Pokémon
Global Link from this saved data
has been denied.
(Error Code: 090-0212)
******************************************
Going forward, we will take similar actions at regular intervals if we continue to identify players using game data that has been modified in an unauthorized way. If we identify that certain players are repeatedly engaging in such unauthorized behavior, further restrictive actions may be taken against them without warning.
We will continue to monitor and deal with unauthorized data modification as it comes to our attention in order to preserve a safe and fair gameplay environment for all users of the Pokémon Global Link.
We encourage all players to follow the instructions in the manual that came with their game in order to protect their saved game data and the Pokémon that they have raised. Thank you for your support and understanding.

A new device may be in the works for Pokémon GO. In a recent interview with Nikkei, The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunakazu Ishihara addressed some concerns about safety with Pokémon GO, and revealed that, together with Nintendo, they are working to develop a new device that can help players play the game more safely.

Here’s Ishihara’s full comment about safety and the possibility of a new device:
“To avoid the danger, we also released “Pokemon Go Plus,” the smartphone-linked wearable device, so that “Pokemon Go” players do not have to always be looking down at their smartphone screens. Together with Nintendo, we are thinking of developing a new device that can be played more safely.”
Though this possibility of a new device is interesting, it should be taken with a grain of salt since some information could be lost in translation. In addition, should such a device be in the works, it’s most likely still in the very early stages of planning.

However, those missing Mega Stones will soon be available in Sun & Moon. The Pokémon Company recently announced that the Stones will be distributed as gifts for Sun & Moon online competitions. The first Stones to be distributed will be Beedrillite and Mawilite, which will be obtainable during a competition in late February.

I'm hosting a touney within the 1st or second week of February now that that feature is available for anyone who is interested.

Just in case, don't forget to join the new global mission. It's the first we'll actually complete, and easy 2,000-4,000 FC. I think the goal is 1 million GTS trades by 2/13, and we're already at 1,084,00 I believe. So we passed it already, just need to wait, and you'll get your coins.

Hmm...I feel like....if the goal gets reached, it should shut off so anyone that wants to join in after the goal's been met can't just jump on it after the works been done.

Pokémon Go needs park permits in Milwaukee County to use park locations

February 7, 2017 16 comments

The Milwaukee County Parks Department had a bit of a problem with Pokémon Go last year. It turns out that when you place various locations in a park, people will happily trample all over the park, which is a good thing... until that causes thousands of dollars of damage that costs area taxpayers money.

This year, however, the Milwaukee County Board is preparing ahead of time by requiring Niantic to purchase a park permit prior to using any parks as Pokémon locations.

Residents worried about the change need not be concerned, as this is solely targeted at the developers; public use of the parks will remain unaffected, even if you're playing Pokémon Go and trampling the ground in pursuit of a Lapras. Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not people will be flocking to the parks in such quantities this year anyhow, but the law is still on the books regardless.Read more

Pokémon Sun and Moon has a glitch involving its Friendly Competitions. The problem has to do with entering one. People who are scanning QR codes to enter into and compete in a Friendly Competition before it starts have reportedly been unable to participate at all. (Thanks, Serebii!)

The Pokémon Company is aware of this Pokémon Sun and Moon glitch. The current remedy is to wait to scan any Friendly Competition QR codes. After one has begun, then it is safe to do so and enter. An actual solution to the problem is in the works.

Niantic, developers behind Pokemon GO, has announced something true Pokemon fans have been hoping for: Trading and real-time player battles in-game.
Pokemon GO was huge when it launched. HUGE. For Thanksgiving they had a special live event, They added baby versions of Pokemon, they even PARTNERED WITH STARBUCKS to make a frappuccino. The summer of 2016 was certainly a time to experience. Then everything changed when the human attention span attacked. People stopped playing Pokemon GO and it faded into obscurity.
Many loyal Pokemon fans stated that they wished the game was more like the actual Pokemon franchise and that seems to be what Niantic is aiming to do. Players have been asking for trading since day one, and it seems that Niantic plans to deliver. Real-time player battles are something true Pokemon fans have been asking for to better compare to the original games and to expand on the "Community" feel of the game. Niantic's CEO John Hanke suggests the features are coming "soon" and that they're being worked on right now. No concrete date has been given, but we're excited nonetheless.
Pokemon GO was huge when it launched and hopefully, this will breathe life into the game yet again. Another round of new Pokemon may also help.

Pokémon GO Heads To Johto. February 15, 2017 . 7:08am

Over 80 new Pokémon are being added to Pokémon GO, as well as new evolution items, different kinds of berries, and more clothing for trainers.

28 comments Read >

A major Pokémon GO update will be released this week. Over 80 Pokémon from Pokémon Gold and Silver’s Johto region are being added to the game. They, along with gender-specific variations of new and existing characters, will begin appearing in the game. All Pokémon may also react differently when you are attempting to catch them.

New items are being added to Pokémon GO too. There will be special evolution items available at PokéStops, which you’ll need to collect and use on characters to evolve them. While these items weren’t named, Pokémon Gold and Silver were the games that introduced Sun Stones that could be used to turn Gloom into Bellossom. Nanab and Pinap berries will be a PokéStop reward as well, with the former slowing down the Pokémon and latter giving you additional candy for a successful capture. More items will be added to the avatar’s wardrobe options, with people being able to choose from new hats, tops, and pants.

The catching interface will look a bit different in the Pokémon GO update. It will be possible to select items to use from a carousel on the capture screen. This means you won’t have to go into a separate menu to use berries or switch Poké Balls.

The Pokémon GO Eevee Nicknaming Trick Works With Espeon & Umbreon . February 17, 2017 . 8:00am

Like the first three Eeveelutions, giving your Eevee a particular nickname in Pokemon GO will guarantee that it evolves into either Umbreon or Espeon.

11 comments Read >

When Pokémon GO first released, players eventually discovered a hidden nickname trick you could use to guarantee which Eeveelution your Eevee would turn into, instead of having it be a random evolution. The nickname Sparky would evolve Eevee into Jolteon, Pyro would evolve it into Flareon, and Rainer would cause it to evolve into Vaporeon.

Now with the release of Generation 2 Pokémon in the mobile game, players now have the chance to evolve their Eevees into either Umbreon or Espeon, and the nickname trick still applies. To evolve your Eevee into Espeon, players will have to nickname it Sakura. Likewise, naming it Tamao will guarantee the Eevee evolves into Umbreon. [Thanks, @PKTidal.]

These names are references to the Kimono Sisters in the who debuted in the Pokémon anime episode, “Trouble’s Brewing.” Tamao is the sister who had an Umbreon. Sakura is the sister who was a recurring character and had a standard Eevee in her debut episode that later evolved into an Espeon by “Espeon, Not Included.”

The game hadn’t been No. 1 on the charts since the end of its New Years’ event on January 4th, and only got to No. 8 during its Valentine’s Day event.

Game Freak is recruiting for a new console development project and they’re in need of 3D CG designers with experience on Wii U and PS Vita level character models using animation and modeling software Maya.

In the staff recruitment ad, Game Freak is looking for someone that can consult with the programmers and work on assisting with data. The work requires using material to create cartoon-like super deformed characters, monsters, and item models. In addition to work as a modeler, they’ll also be expected to do work on debugging, data work, and more. Experience using animation and modeling software Maya is required.

And if that doesn’t say new Pokémon game, here’s another bit that’s in the ad’s details:
We’ll have you work on the production an RPG game that is popular on a global scale.

Platform will be console.

It’s a title that just about anyone knows, and a proposal that could become your future career.

In another ad they’re looking for character modelers for a new title. This one has a similar job description to the 3D CG designer, except it specifically mentions under Maya’s part that they should have experience working on models at the level of Wii U and PS Vita.
