They really should have brought in the X-Men and Fantastic Four after Endgame.
I wouldn't read too much into the RT%. The average of critics scores, for now, is something like 5.9 of 10, or just slightly below 3 out of 5. Marvel generally has overperformed in % vs. rating in the past. This probably isn't as big a critical adjustment as the % indicates.
Its still lower than Thor: The Dark World (6.2/10), which was for a long time viewed as the nadir of the MCU.
Critics were incredibly kind to that movie. I've no idea of how it earned such a pass other than the novelty of the shared universe. And a post-Avengers sugar high.
You can't look at these things in a vacuum. In addition to the Avengers hype you have to take into account that critics were mostly used to far worse comic book movies. Prior to the MCU, Marvel movies were mostly misses (with the exception of Raimi's first two Spider-Man movies and the first two X-Men films directed by Singer). If you were a movie critic at the time you had lived through Daredevil, Elektra, Ang Lee's Hulk, Punisher War Zone, Spider-Man 3, Last Stand & Wolverine Origins, FF & Ghost Rider movies, Catwoman, Green Lantern and Jonah Hex. Even the weaker Phase 1 and Phase 2 MCU movies were good in comparison. Yes, even Thor The Dark World.
That may be true to an extent, but that seems to be treating superhero movies like they were an entirely separate genre from fantasy / science fiction action adventure. Nolan's Batman movies and Inception, Avatar, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Casino Royale, 300, and even Harry Potter were contemporaries or near enough.
But, needless to say, even in just the superhero genre, the bar has been raised.
Besides the truly unremarkable villain, I think most of The Dark World is fine. I never understood the hate for it. I could easily rewatch it over many other modern superhero movies any time.Critics were incredibly kind to that movie. We'll have to agree to disagree. Thor 2 wasn't just mediocre, it was boring.
Eternals OTOH was definitely interesting and brought something fresh into the MCU despite its flaws.
I mean okay. They really should have brought in the X-Men and Fantastic Four after Endgame.
That's what I'm thinking as well. Ant-Man and the Wasp could have skirted around critics because they were on a post-Infinity War Marvel high. Granted, I don't think Ant-Man and the Wasp deserves a rotten score but 87% is WAAAAAY too high. I was actually surprised when I double checked it because I thought it was in the mid-70s.I refuse to believe this is worse than the 2nd Ant -Man movie which was incredibly bland.
I understand this sentiment, but I actually prefer Marvel take their time with those properties to get them right than rush them. Feige understands how important these characters are, and I kind like we’re slowly building towards them. They really should have brought in the X-Men and Fantastic Four after Endgame.

Unpopular opinion, but I found A LOT of the phase 2 & 3 Marvel film's rotten score to be WAAAAY too high. Especially if it was anything other than BP, and Winter Soldier. That's what I'm thinking as well. I agree. The CGI in TDW is also miles better than in any Phase 4 movie (especially Thor: Love and Thunder). Say what you want, but the funeral scene is genuinely beautiful to behold:
Yes. You could tell they were struggling with sequels at that point but you can also tell (now) that they really took the time with each movie. The studio wasn't churning out shows and movies left and right.
