9.03 - Rabid - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

i guess you could say that about davis connection and the zombies. And B from what we know with spoilers and all that Ollie should be out of his drunken state in episode 6 "crossfire".

I hope he is, I don't hate the character even though I might give off that impression.. but when all we see is him drinking & acting like a tool I wish Clark would incinerate him with his heat vision..

well the overnight numbers are in from tvbythenumers rating site and rabid last night scored a 2.30 million viewers.

I wanted Zod to roar: "There can be only one!!!!!" at the end

I felt the episode was pretty much a filler myself with the only real important stuff being at the end with Zod. I'm kinda meh as far as Oliver is concerned. He kinda seems like a sub for Bruce Wayne which they can't use . The actor is alright , i've just not a Green Arrow fan.

I liked the Welling and Durance scenes but other then that imo it really wasn't one of their better ones. Btw , anyone else notice Durance slip into her Canadian accent?

Blech I hate the formula of feeding an episode 85-90% filler, with a moment/or two (usually the last 5-10 minutes of an episode) that progresses the story line for the season.

:down

I really enjoy their new approach. Even though a lot of this is filler, it's still all connected to the Kryptonian army. I think Clark should fight one or two of them an episode though from now on.

Who directed this episode!? The Directing was freaking amazing!!!! The angles, the cuts, the music, the imagery...my God it was beautiful (especially Clark and Lois hugging as everyone walks around them).

Based on music, again very well done. Nice to see the Lois and Clark theme re-occuring in a new way.

Continuity wise they made a mistake with the Katana. The Katana that's in the mansion is supposed to be a prop sword from a Japanese movie Lex really liked. He told Clark it was really blunt.

Other than that, I liked it. And might I suggest that maybe the Kryptonians get their power by killing people? The more they kill, the stronger they become? Kind of like Mr. Hyde.

well sure it was fillerish type of episode but i didnt think it was a filler episode in my mind. We got some more development with zod and his followers, more ongoing lois and clark stuff. I agree the makeup/lighting/music/directing were all top notch for the episode.

i really wished they did do a green arrow spin off after season 6 ended. So then he could have been off on his own show, pop into smallville once in awhile or for smallville guys to pop into his show. and then development his character more on his own so it wouldnt cut into clark's time. That was a big problem in season 6 ollie was around to much.

I think Green Arrow having his own show would be the best idea myself . Maybe then you can take the character in more directions and give it a Buffy/Angel sort of darker tone. Every now and then Chloe or Lois could pop up but give Ollie his own supporting cast .

yea and then they could get into his villains and what not to.

Didn't really care for this episode. The only thing I liked about it was the Lois and Clark moments and the ending with Zod.

yea the lois and clark and zod scene was pretty good. Though personally i thought it was an overall good episode. But everyone has their tastes for episodes.

I don't care for filler episodes. The zombie plot really had nothing to do with what's happened so far. They showed some smaller plots that could get a future reference(Chloe spying on Oliver). Other than that, it just doesn't work for me.

I also have a question. Wasn't Zod in season 5? I know his soul took over Lex's body. Should he have had some memory of what has happened, or am I overlooking something.

that zod was different new york spidey, that was an older zod who was a general and banished to the phantom zone and lost his phsyical body. This zod is some younger copy prior to becoming general and being banished into the phantom zone. As for the reason why they are younger copies and from what point before krypton blew up we dont know yet.

For me the best ep of the season by far, and one of the better of the show in general. Zombie-plot aside I thought the acting and writing was pretty damn great.

Liked the little nod to Lana, love what they're doing with Lois and Clark, and Zod simply rocks.

I wonder how much hate there would be if it was Batman on the show insted of GA. I mean in the same story and every thing. I thought it was a good episode my self. I'm still not sure if I liked it better than episode 2 or not. And I meant to say this before but I didn't notice that the S shield Clark wear has a different S than the SM S shield untill I was watching episode 1 for the second time.

Well, my view on Ollie isn't about hate, I just don't find the character that interesting . If Bruce were there, it still wouldn't work considering A) He wouldn't be taking orders or lectures from Clark and B) Is so driven at that point in his life , that walking away from his responsibilities wouldn't be an option for him.

On a side note , In the first few years of the show the producers did desire to have Bruce make an appearence on the show but do to the development of the Batman reboot , it wasn't possible. I do think GA is something of a sub for Bats in terms of their professional relationship . I think he fills the role the producers would have preferred Bruce to have but GA worked out well for them so they made the right call.

However , I do think that a Green Arrow having his own show would be a good idea.

wasn't feeling this episode...but it was stikll better than all of last season...might be best ep of the show sadly

once again ollie says what we are all thinking(his only role in the show)

blah blah tess(kill her already)

blah blah chloe(should have never existed)

i dont find myself caring about Zod and his dogtagged buddies, plus his accent annoys me, its all mumbles(i know i know its british, but i understand doctor who all the time)

episode moves way too fast with little happening(common smallville problem...i think they have longer commercials or something)

i know you guys go ape**** over lois and clark banter but until i see him being superman i cringe every sencond i see him at the daily planet without a slouch, stutter and glasses.

gotta love clark "going for help" all by himself without the gun(really lois? really?)

if Zod keeps killing his guys he's only gonna have 2 people on his side(creepy girl and a guy with a beard(see supes II)

anyway, as an hour of tv on friday night i give this a 4(dollhouse gets a 8.3 for its amazing ep)

as an episode of smallville(the show where nothing happens) i give it a 6(best ever)
