X-Men - Part 4

Just read Uncanny X-Men 1 in full and my only complaint is...if Magneto claims Cyclops should be in jail then why did he break him out?? I guess you could say it's before he realized how broken he is and that he ****ed with his powers but it seems somewhat silly. I have a hard time believing Magneto is not doing this on the orders of Scott.

Also I hope Bendis shows us how Cyclops and the new X-Men got their new outfits in All-New.

Also can someone help me decide whether to pick up Astonishing X-Men or Wolverine and the X-Men? I just started picking up Wolverine but I also know Astonishing covers somewhat similar ground and I wanted to know what the difference was and whether Astonishing would be a better book to read along with Uncanny and All-New than Wolverine.

On the topic of the movies, I feel like there were things from the movies showing up in comics around the time of X-Men and X2, but that's about it, really. We got the leather uniforms, movie looks for Toad and Mystique (which were both temporary), and around X2, Stryker an Deathstryke showed up with each other in one of the books. Am I missing any other big ones?

Didn't the comics put the Blackbird's hangar bay underneath the basketball court after the first movie?

yeah, the biggest one I would say. The institute became a school again but with dozens of students like the movie and the senior X-men became teachers

I think Magneto [BLACKOUT]is a double agent. I think he is working with Scott and feeding the feds info to keep them off their trail, while also getting insight into what they know of this new Xmen branch. [/BLACKOUT]It would actually be genius if it went down like that.

As much as Im not caring for WaTX, ASM seems to be worse

Wolverine and the X-men would be better. I'm not reading Astonishing, but it's tying into an event soon with Age of Apocalypse and X-Treme X-men. As far as I'm aware Astonishing only focuses on the faculty, whereas WatXM features the students. It's also more relevant to the status quo, i.e. Jean made an appearance there.

I'm also not convinced by Magneto.

Wolverine doesn't have anything to do with X-force anymore.

Oh stop. You keep assuming that they remained the Kyle/Yost incarnation when they weren't nearly that 1 dimensional under Remender's pen. You're just being a hater.

yeah i haven't read or seen many reviews for the new UXF

any good?

I heard Cable&XF is crap

but, following Remender's run is a very unenviable task

There's only been 1 issue of the new UXF but I enjoyed it. So far it seems like they're gonna work with some of the leftover stuff from Remender's run.

I thought the first issue was odd. The Fantomex thing and Psylocke's portrayal just didn't do it for me, but I'll keep coming back. Bishop has me real curious.

I wasn't too impressed by the first issue but I'll check out another one or two before deciding on dropping it or not. I really don't care for the team and Betsy's characterization really rubbed me the wrong way. And the Fantomex thing is really strange. The art is beautiful though.

It is pretty fun how you and JH will inevitably still jump to its defense even though you know it won't make a difference. :oldrazz:

What X-man isn't morally corrupt these days :o?
Iceman? Maybe? At least, I'm not aware of him brutally murdering anyone or anything like that. But you're pretty much right.

Just like it's fun to remind you that Thor gets his ass kicked once every three months.

Iceman, Beast, Nightcrawler, Kitty, Rachel Grey, Rogue, Dazzler, Cannonball, Chamber, Husk, Armor, Pixie, Sunspot, Madison Jeffries, Boom-Boom, Doug Ramsey...they're all pretty legit as far as I can remember.

Nightcrawler's dead and the one that took his place was a backstabbing murderer!

Well, Beast is at least open to moral ambiguity, as New Avengers shows. A bit hypocritical in light of his objections to X-Force, but whatevs.

And everyone knows you can't be a Thor fan without being okay that he'll get his ass kicked. He and the Martian Manhunter are about tied for the record of most disrespected top-tier powerhouse in comics. :oldrazz:

To be fair, we haven't seen his reaction to the betrayal of Cap yet. Same for Panther, he wasn't too keen on group to begin with.
