Superhero Cinematic Civil War - Part 57

I like Newton, but there was really no reason to recast here, especially as they had Cassie post-snap already. I will say it does annoy me what they will and won't recast for. Especially considering the people they are employing.
The previous teen Cassie actress is in her first year of college and possibly couldn't fit filming a larger movie role in with her schedule

Eh, I think it's more likely it means that Spider-Man and the Four will crossover.

That's definitely going to happen. But probably not in the first F4. Someone else is going to direct the next Spidey while Watts does the F4.

I’ve been binging on the 1994 Fantastic Four cartoon all day on Disney+ and now that damn theme song is stuck in my head.

No what your trying to do DOES effect the story. You want them to essentially deage some people, but I guess not everyone cause Morgan Stark would then not exist. All to accommodate 1 actor. For a character who was in this movie maybe 20 seconds. Not worth it. Because movies recast characters who get older all the time.
I don't think it has to effect the story. The story after it hasn't cared about the 5 years time jump, much for any large point. And if the characters can remember, that maintains the personal drama connected to it. With the stones, I think it can be done, and everyone who was born in that time can be maintained, including Morgan.

Not just to accommodate 1 actor. I prefer it for other reasons. But in this case, I'm suggesting it for this.

It's for a character that was in the first 2 Ant-Man movies.

They don't have to recast. It doesn't have to be not worth the time. I see no reason to not do it.

This just encouraged me to listen to it again.

We're really bereft of news to give a **** about Cassie Lang, huh?
I want to see it revealed that she kept her ugly bunny doll, and if she still loves it.

Here’s hoping they make Sif Valkyrie’s love interest.
I hope not. Valkyrie is my fav, I don't want her to share the little screentime she might have with a character I dislike.

I have zero issue with most recasts (unless it is an obvious downgrade). I make an exception for T'Challa just because of how significant the role was and the tragic nature of his death. Much like with Heath Ledger if Joker was to be TDKR, it is just basically impossible for someone else to come in and fill Boseman's shoes given the circumstances.

Cassie Lang? I might not even notice she's different to be honest.

I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel goes the recast route with Xochitl Gomez, the America Chavez actress, at some point. At 14 years old she is quite a bit younger than the actress portraying comic book BFF Kate Bishop, as well as some of the other legacies recently announced.

When the New Avengers does go into production it looks like it will be female dominated with Kate, Cassie, Kamala, Riri, America and possibly Yelena as well. That's assuming Wanda's kids dont grow up quickly.

Every year I come back to this thread I'm reminded of when people said it would get locked in a day when I first made it. I'm so glad there can be civil debates regarding the cinematic universes.

This even tops my everyone's demands of wanting to see Hoffman and "GO SPIDEY GO" lady make their comeback.

Yes, thank you for making it.
What do you think of all the weird crap going around? I'm interested in knowing your thoughts of it all.

Maybe, but if she's 18 before they start filming that sort of age difference isn't unheard of. When Beverly Hills, 90210 started Gabrielle Carteris was 29, but Shannen Doherty was 19, Jennie Garth was 18, and Tori Spelling was 17.

I'm wondering if Young Avengers might be a TV series, given Marvel pushing a lot in that direction and a number of these characters coming from the TV side. If that were to happen, it would suit me fine. The Avengers movies are too pressed for time for my tastes, so some breathing room would be nice.

Well *cracks-knuckles*

The Spider-Man Casting rumors? Not holding my breath for any of it. Although the rumors seem to have ran across official sites like Wikipedia and Collider. It's easy for the web to be fooled. It would be nice, but I'm just hoping for a confirmation or news in general regardless of the Spider-Verse nonsense. As that is my favorite hero.

The MCU news, super hype. Never been more excited before. The phase were in involves a lot of wacky shenanigans and grounded but intense plotlines. I'm honestly excited to see how Disney rebuilds the traction they've lost from this year.

Personally I'm holding out for news on She Hulk, Strange, Gaurdians 2, Armor Wars, Secret Wars and Fantastic Four. The other stuff is exciting and cool. But my excitement can only spread so thin.

It's impressive that it's become the de facto superhero movie news thread. I'll pretty much always check in here for newest updates. Probably one of the best threads on the Hype.

Personally I want to see the "some kinda freakyloo or something. Wackadoo" cop and the subway musician from the montage in the first movie return. And of course...

Long live the Civil War thread. It's become the go-to general superhero news thread. Disney won the war a while back.

Ugh, can't stand her or her awful accent. Oh well. She'll likely be a minor blight on an otherwise delightful movie for me.

I don't know too much about her having an accent that is so noticeable, unless that's a blindspot on my part. But she is a boring and somewhat dour actress and often looks like the confused smiley. I'm glad she wasn't cast as Wonder Woman.
