Official Street Fighter IV Thread

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015...ghter-iv-and-re-revelations-2-to-playstation/
You might’ve heard some big news from Capcom at our first ever PlayStation Experience fan expo. No, not that news. This: Resident Evil Revelations 2 is coming to PS Vita, and Ultra Street Fighter IV is coming to PS4, thanks to a double partnership between Capcom and SCEA’s Third Party Production. What’s more, Third Party Production is producing and publishing both titles for those platforms.

The Street Fighter series evolves to a whole new level with Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS4, the first Street Fighter title to debut on next-gen consoles anywhere. For those of you who haven’t played the original on PS3, the game boasts five new characters and six new stages for even more fighting mayhem.

The PS4 version will also include all costume DLC released up to date, including both the recently released Vacation and Wild costumes, as well as Omega Mode; it’s the ultimate version of Ultra Street Fighter IV, and it’s only on PS4!

Now, as I announced at PlayStation Experience, both of these titles will come out in spring of 2015. I cannot wait to share more information with you all on these great games closer to launch. Remember to keep tweeting your requests for games you’d like to see on PlayStation platforms (#BuildingTheList), and keep your eye on the blog for more information.

Im interested in hearing what the price of USFIV will be. I have a feeling it will be $40. This looks to be the final definitive version of the game....at least one would hope so

Release date

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/04/17/ultra-street-fighter-iv-hits-ps4-on-may-26th/

All the characters, all the levels, and all of the DLC that have been launched so far will be included in the PS4 version of the game. Also, a few of you hardcore Street Fighters out there said that there was minor input lag in the controls of Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS3. Well, don’t worry: we’ve eliminated it to make the PS4 edition the ultimate version on any platform, so it’ll be good to go for all your tournament needs!

We are aiming for the digital release of Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS4 on May 26th, 2015 at a price of $24.99. This would launch simultaneously in the Americas and Europe.

$25? Im shocked. I honestly expected this to be $40

I haven't played SF in year's. Definitely a purchase for me.

Hmm... a PS4 investment is looking more and more likely.

Artist Explains Why Street Fighter III’s Animations Are Better Than Street Fighter IV’s. May 15, 2015 . 5:00pm

The pixel art of Street Fighter III is superior to the HD and 3D models of Street Fighter IV, and this artist explains why.

Blake Reynolds, the artist over at Dinofarm Games, has written a long post about why the studio’s games will no longer use pixel art. It’s an interesting read, and perhaps the most fascinating part is his breakdown of Street Fighter’s animations.

Focusing on Street Fighter III and Street Fighter IV, Reynolds explains why the animation in SFIII is better than SFIV’s.

“Chun-li’s body in SFIII works like a whip cracking. When every frame is a new drawing, it allows for things like flowing drapery, muscles flexing and unflexing, the natural sort of warp the body takes when it moves in extreme ways, etc. The effect is nothing short of magical,” Reynolds writes.
“While I’ve seen far worse than Chun-li in SFIV, the animation is just kind of dead and sloppily done. There is no urgency, and many of her limbs and facial movements seem bizarre and out of place,” he continues.

“Because of this, SFIV Chun-li looks like she’s posing for a photo shoot, whereas SFIII Chun-li looks full of adrenaline and intensity… almost as though she were in a fight!”

Reynolds breaks down the animation in both of these Street Fighter games in this way to illustrate one of his points in the article: that to explain why a game’s art may be better than another one to an average player takes a lot of effort. He reasons that most players would instantly perceive Street Fighter IV’s art as being better merely because it’s in 1080p and runs at 60 frames per second, whereas Street Fighter III is what most people would refer to as “pixelated”.

This was one of the criticisms levied at Dinofarm’s latest game Auro.

His point is that not enough people appreciate pixel art these days, no matter its quality, and that’s why he’s abandoning it for Dinofarm’s previous games – instead, he’ll use HD art as that’s better understood and admired by today’s players. You can read the whole article here.
