I’m all for it. It’s the elephant in the room and they should 100% address it. The Guardians can represent “the thin blue line” with Ganthet being an exception, and eventually defecting. So with everything that is going on with race relations and policing, what are the odds a Green Lantern movie/series draws from that, and shows some of the dark underbelly of organized space policing, and efforts to clean it up from the inside? There's often, in modern comics, been sort of an undercurrent of The Guardians being a tad corrupt.
The current situation kind of necessitates John’s presence.
I’m embarrassed by how adamant i was that Hal be used. In my defense, I was open to a race change for Hal. I just preferred Hal from a story standpoint. He has all the iconic stories and character development. Not to mention, he has the most personal relationships with the major villains. It wasn’t ever a white vs black thing, Hal has historically just been a better developed character. This obviously could’ve been a symptom of our culture, which caused the white character to get more focus.
I’ve since rethought my position. John should’ve been the GL for the DCEU, with an incapacitated Hal playing a supporting/villainous role.
