Honestly, regarding the Arkham finale, I think I prefer it to The Dark Knight Rises. I'm not sure.
On the whole I agree, actually. Arkham's ending was more extreme and fitting of a grand finale.

Both were kinda lousy. Prefer Knight's to it, though.

It's OK. It sounds like they wanted to do their own version of Dark Knight Rises since it's the final game. So they made sure it was different.

I prefer Rises, of course.

I've been busy so I haven't finished Arkham Knight just yet. But so far it's okay.

Talia is one of my favourite characters. I thought she was fine but I wish she was given a bigger and different role to what she had rather than it only being revealed she was Talia late on and ending with a anti-climatic death. I loved the film though, I have to say.

It's better than Origins for sure, but It's not on the level of excitement as City and Aslyum, at least just not yet. I'm not even half way done with the game. I figured out who Arkham Knight is the moment they met so i'm just waiting for the reveal to happen. And [BLACKOUT] I said before that I'll hate it if they shoved the Joker back in the game and pretend he wasn't dead the whole time, but the way they are handling it, I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying that.[/BLACKOUT] As for the gameplay, the Batmobile controls is kinda wonky and makes for some huge collateral damage. But playing as Batman is great and the tag team stuff is pretty cool.

I prefer TDKR's ending, although the ambiguous final moment of AK was pretty cool.

I just don't like how
people seem to now think that there's a Batman or Bruce as Batman using fear toxin. I don't think that's what the final image was meant to represent at all.

The trite justifications they needed to abuse the batmobile got pretty tiresome after a while.

I played a bit of Knight at my friend's. Don't currently have a next-gen console and not sure when I'm going to get one. Have to say I wasn't really blown away by the game, and graphically I can barely even tell the difference between it and Arkham City. I mean I would still totally buy the game if I had a next-gen, but I'm not in a hurry to go out and buy one like I thought this game might make me.

As for the ending, I think it's fine. It would've made a poor ending for Rises though as it does not offer any resolution for Bruce Wayne, but it's a decent enough conclusion for a video game series. I mean most Batman endings are variations of "fakes death, disappears, passes mantle" anyway.

To be fair, I have not played Arkham Knight (only watched its ending). But I do like how Rises gives real closure to Bruce Wayne and even Alfred. While Arkham Knight seems to be the same ending roughly, the ambiguity of it and what happens next for Bruce seems like it was trying too hard.

With that said, I actually prefer how in Arkham Knight that [blackout]Gotham finds out Bruce Wayne is Batman.[/blackout]

That is something Rises could have benefitted from.

At first, i thought Rises needed to have Gotham find out about Bruce. If he was going to stay there. But the guy would not be able to live a peaceful existence if the entire world knew Batman was Bruce Wayne. Not only would his celebrity status go up even more (if that's possible) but there's always the risk of haters trying to harm the guy or freaks trying to challenge him to come back out as Batman. It's too open-ended. It exposes too much of the Batman mystique. That godly status that we get at the end with the statue. Batman would no longer matter if Gotham knew he was Bruce. Bruce would be the one honored. Therefore the "Batman lives on" concept would be dead. Which was the whole point of Nolan making a third movie to begin with.

Blake: I mean, no one's ever gonna know who saved an entire city.

Gordon: They know; it was the Batman.

That right there says it all.

Yeah, agree or disagree with the choice, the movie was very deliberately making the exact opposite statement, from top to bottom. Gordon's final plea to Batman is kind of like a stand-in for anyone who may have wanted to see Bruce unmasked to the world, but Bruce has a different philosophy on it.

I also love the notion that there's a Wayne Manor full of orphans, sitting atop a Batcave implying a generational longevity to Batman well beyond Blake, should it be required.

The flashbacks to the moments of Joker crippling Barbara and torturing Jason were so well done and felt like a horror movie to me. They actually made my skin crawl.

I think the game is great, but I prefer Arkham City to it. Though, I haven't finished it.

I watched most of TDKR when it was on TNT last weekend. I forgot how much I love this trilogy. I don't think there will ever be movies that I follow and get excited for like I did TDKT.

Or even comic book movies. The Daredevil show is filling that void for me.

Yeah, it ties back to Bruce's speech to Alfred in the plane in the first movie. The idea that as a man Bruce wasn't enough to save Gotham, he needed to be an immortal symbol that was beyond any single man, beyond reproach. Gotham had tried putting its salvation in a man with Harvey Dent, a man who could be and was fallible, and it didn't work. So the only way Batman as a symbol could be truly undone would be if he was unmasked before the world. Not even Batman exiling himself at the end of TDK destroyed him (despite the signal getting axed), it just inverted the symbol, turning it into a legend of derision instead of hope.

The AK game took a few nods from the TDK trilogy;

- Gordon meeting Bruce as a kid after his parents were killed
- Lucius being Batman's tech supplier and knowing that he's Bruce Wayne
- The new Bat suit being titanium dipped tri weave, making it lighter and faster for Batman to move
- The whole ending of Gordon finding out Bruce is Batman, Batman faking his death after saving Gotham, leaving Wayne Manor etc

[BLACKOUT]Not to mention Lucius constantly talking about what is and is not in his job description. :o [/BLACKOUT]

Have you guys seen the new pics? It looks like Bruce dancing with Diana claims heritage from Batman Returns just like Bruce dancing with Selina in Rises did.

Plus, Batfleck's hair looks just like Bale's.

Yeah, seeing that was kind of offputting for me. It's like my mind is subconsciously expecting to see Bale's face and instead it's Affleck's.

The pictures look cool though. The Bats Supes fight will be straight up comic book porn.
