Terminator: Genisys - Part 4

While I like Emilia Clarke on GoT, she looks like a miscast here. They should've had a more mature looking actress who can both play younger and older Sarah. Emilia looks like she 19 no matter the era; am I expect to believe she can play a 30 something Sarah Conner by the time we hit 1992?

I'm with you on Emilia. I like her but she's looks badly out of place here. (Like a little girl playing dress up)

To be fair though and just to clear it up, the Sarah in this film (age wise) is from 1984 and she's around 19/20. That's the only version that appears throughout the film.

They never visit 1992. It's 2029, 1984 and 2017.

WHAT IS GOING ON?

Why are they going in reverse with this?

This just looks like a cheap, sloppy, unprofessional hack job.

It's like the trailer is saying, "hasta la vista, box office". We'll get The Rock in the next one and try again.

John Connor is now an ultra terminator and the main baddie? How does he end up being half machine? Wtf is going on?

Each new trailer dissapoints me more

If she time traveled in 1984 to the future how is john even alive?

I always thought T3&Salvation were underrated and now I think they will end up being even more underrated after this movie comes out.

The original is still a great classic and T2 is one of my favorite films ever, while the last two were weak compared to T1&2 they still weren't too bad and especially not compared to the trailers for this alone

Was watching the MTV movie awards and I see a trailer with old Arnold fighing young Arnold with half his face torn off, looks like the battle will be short and zero chance of them CGI'ing a young Bill Paxton and his group of punks.

I like TSCC but that ranking to me is a bit overboard. It's good but not that good to be superior to the original. I don't think anything has or will top The Terminator. I don't even think that T2 did.

Then again I may be biased. For about 4 years before T2 even existed the original along with RoboCop and Back to the Future was one of my most watched and favorite movies. I would also take T3 over Salvation any day of the week, month or century.

Totally agree with this, T1 is still the best movie in the franchise to me withT3 above Salvation also.

As a huge Terminator fan and someone who originally defended this movie, I have to say, that trailer was really bad, and making John Connor the bad guy is an absolute joke.

I've never thought Rise of the Machines was bad, just that the first half is kind of a lazy rehash of T2, but it's worth it for when they get bold in the 2nd half.

Salvation isn't too great, but at least it's totally different than the first three. Enjoyable in that sense.

But anyone who's gonna talk **** on those two after THIS one? They need their brains counted. Even putting aside the craptacular plot and the horrible casting for Reese, that CGI is embarassing. Paramount Pictures can't afford better?!? That seems to be the worst CGI I've seen in a mainstream film of the modern age, hopefully it's finished by the time the film comes out!

But you know what? It's Arnold, it's Terminator, I'm gonna be there first day. :funny:

I'll still go see it for Arnold and it's a new film in the franchise but it won't be on opening day this time (saw 2-4 in theathers)and am just feeling extremely dissapointed after digging the concept and this is one of my favorite franchises.

I hear ya Doc. What clinched it for me was the version of "Get out!" that will be used in this movie. I actually spit out coffee when I saw that. This trailer actually made me a believer because before I was very indifferent about this. At least now all signs point to it being so bad that it could be hilariously entertaining. Albeit for all the wrong reasons.

As opposed to Salvation which I felt was so bad I would rather stare at a clear bucket full of dish water placed in front of a drying painted wall than ever watch it again. Salvation's pretensions is what ruined it for me. You see that they genuinely felt they were making something special there and it's actually pretty sad. With this one at least you can tell they went "**** it" and just had fun by throwing everything against the wall and waiting to see what sticks.

WHAT IS GOING ON?

And here is T-800 in Terminator Salvation:

The shot in the new trailer looks ****ing awful. I wonder if the trailer editors were sent an early render of the shot by mistake? That's the only thing that makes any sense.

Oh and Alan Taylor continues to disappoint me. He should just return to tv. It's like when he gets a bigger budget and a 2 hour running time he completely loses his damn head. Idk whether it's an inability to deal with the responsibility and scope that comes with cinema or if he just lets the studio execs run over him, but something is clearly wrong.

The original ending for Salvation was actually really dark and interesting. It's a shame the weak kneed studio axed it.

No it really wasn't interesting at all. Just another example of "lets throw an illogical and superfluous plot twist into the mix in order to claim that this movie will be a game changer".

Really what the hell is exactly gained by making Marcus Wright the "new" John Connor & inspiration for the resistance going forward? absolutely nothing.

Looks super sh**. I won't be back.

I just wish John Connor didn't look drastically different in every single film/appearance he's had. They literally didn't even try. It's a jarring experience trying to binge-watch all of the movies.

So that is an awful trailer.

I get them spoiling the John Connor reveal. Twist endings were extremely unpopular in the rumours surrounding Salvation, so much so that the producers filmed a replacement endings to avoid the flack. Whether the plot works this time remains to be seen, but I think it's smart to get the shock out of the way early so people are over it by the time the film releases.

I actually think the John Connor stuff is the most interesting bit in this new trailer. Jason Clarke's casting as John makes more sense to me now I know of his villainous turn. It's a risky switch, yet consistant with a franchise that made the Terminator a hero. That character clearly got the most care with the visual effects too, and is something fresh and potentially creepy.

Arnold looks out of place in his own franchise, as mis-cast as a Terminator now as Jai Courtney is for Kyle Reese. The cheesy smile joke and the silly "robot" noise that accompanies it just cements my fears that yet another Terminator film is being made by people who don't get it.

And finally. The effects. Damn. They are terrible. The CGI is ropey, far worse than both Salvation and T3, and even worse than T2. Even the make up effects look poor in this. It looks very cheap.

At least the future looks fairly well captured. I'll still watch this.

i kinda want that scar...anyways...5 movies in and the future keeps getting screwed up. I dont think the machine really thought that one out.
