Pokémon Red, Blue, And Yellow Home Menu Themes Revealed. February 24, 2016 . 9:00am

Screenshots of the Home themes that come with North America and Europe’s Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow Nintendo 2DS and 3DS bundles have appeared.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Pokémon, Nintendo is rereleasing Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. The company has also put together a Nintendo New 3DS bundle for North America and three Nintendo 2DS bundles for Europe. In each case, the bundles come with special Home menu themes to celebrate the series. Serebii was able to get images of the three themes.


The three Nintendo 3DS Home menu themes each correspond to one of the games. In Europe, the Nintendo 2DS bundle you purchase determines which theme you get. There are bundles for Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow, and each one has its own theme.


The Nintendo New 3DS bundle in North America comes with both Pokémon Red and Blue pre-installed and includes the Red and Blue Home themes as a result. Nintendo has not said if these themes will be exclusive to the bundles.



Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow will be available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop on February 27, 2016. North America will get the Nintendo New 3DS Pokémon Red and Blue bundle and Europe will get the three Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow Nintendo 2DS bundles on February 27 as well.

Pokémon Sun and Moon leak, trademarked before tomorrow’s Direct

Nintendo is hosting a Pokémon Direct tomorrow morning. That was announced earlier this week. What wasn’t announced, however, was the full scope of what they’d cover during that presentation.

Well, a fresh Trademark filed in Europe might have leaked the massive reveal. Nintendo trademarked Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, complete with the logos you see at the head of this post.

The trademark filing occurred today, February 25, 2016, and it was filed in both English and German. The filing was first noticed by newcomer outlet NerdLeaks, though we’ve searched the database and found the trademarks as well. Their existence has been confirmed.

So if this leak is true, and Sun and Moon are announced, does this mean there will not be a Z? Would I just be better off getting X/Y now then?

If Z was coming out, it would have been announced. They wouldn't announce a Gen 6 game after announcing Gen 7.

I saw that news earlier, and I'm not sure what to think of it. I really don't think they're going to put Gen 7 on the 3DS unless the 3DS has a lot more life than many expect. Them skipping a third version is also unlikely. It could also be just that they're trademarking Gen 7 well before it's release. Tomorrow will probably tell.

This wasn't an announcement, it was a trademark that gives no indication what it's trademarking.

There's some Pokemon announcement tomorrow. If it's true, we'll know. Even if it's not Gen 7, I doubt we'll see Z since Magearna is most likely a Gen 7 Pokemon.

It's not impossible, but I'm still super skeptic that Gen 7 will be unveiled tomorrow. It's not like X/Y wasn't successful or anything, and the third version has been a thing since Black/White, and even it had sequels which I think can be argued to still fit within that model. For them to just skip that, which has been a very lucrative model and way of fleshing out the generation seems unlikely. There's also a lot of stuff with Zygarde that hasn't been in the games, yet, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me that they're just going hang that out to dry.

I'm thinking that Sun/Moon could be Gen 7, but they've just trademarked it earlier than usual, or it's X-2/Y-2, but they have changed the naming scheme to reflect some specific change(s).

I can't help but feel like Z has to be the next game, because why else would they include it in the anime?

Interestingly enough, I looked at the release of all the games and their third version, and in just about every case, a third game was released two years after the initial two. They typically don't release a game on an odd-number year, so odds are a new game will be released this year, since nothing was released last year.

The 3rd game of a trio has always come out before the remakes, with the only exception being Emerald and FRLG which had very close release dates (less than 12 months apart). If Z was going to happen, I think we would know by now.

It depends on what form Z ends taking. It may not be a single game, and more akin to Black 2/White 2 and be more like sequels than just a third game. It just doesn't make any sense really, to me, for them to jump to Gen 7 when there's a lot of Zygarde material that has not been in the games, yet, and for them to release it on 3DS for multiple reasons. It may not be something as simple as Z, but I'm fairly sure it'll still be in that mold as a cap off for Gen VI.

It's possible, of course, though. With Black 2/White 2 they showed they aren't afraid to change things up as far as release schedule. But seeing them drop a lucrative model as well as leaving a lot of plot and material hanging feels odd, at least to me.

I do hope that may be Sun & Moon will be like Black & White 2. And I'd love to see a 2nd half of Pokémon in the Kalos Region plus added locations. Just under 3 hours to go til the next Pokémon Direct.

I think they just wanted to ride off the legacy of the series and bring some visual nostalgia.

With that said, I guess I'll be getting X or Y now. Kinda bummed, especially since I passed on the Nintendo sale Target had a few months ago because I was waiting for Z to be announced.
