Rocky/Creed Cinematic Universe Thread

I wonder if we will ever see Adonis half siblings in these films.

I think Tommy "The Machine" Gunn is the Rocky antagonist I disliked the most

Yeah, personality-wise he was a *****e and only concerned about his earnings and himself. Ivan Drago was more terrifying in a cold Terminator-esque way. Clubber Lang was a mixture, full of ambition and anger but also sadistic/cruel and lacking compassion, like Drago.

The Rocky films have their flaws, but they've always had fairly memorable 'villains', for want of a better word.

I think Tommy Gunn works on paper. A naive kid from Oklahoma that Rocky takes under his wing as Mickey did for him, but who then gets corrupted by an unscrupulous promoter (ie. Don King) and because he doesn't have Rocky's heart, turns to the dark side. Basically Obi-Wan vs. Anakin.

But Tommy Morrison wasn't a strong enough actor to pull off the dramatic scenes, so you don't end up caring for him off the top. His turn would've felt more heartbreaking if we actually cared for him as Rocky does.

Tommy Gunn is no one's favorite Rocky villain, but I'll at least give him credit for being more memorable than Mason Dixon from Rocky Balboa or Ricky Conlan from Creed. I actually had to Google them because I forgot their names but in their defense the focus of Rocky Balboa and Creed wasn't really centered around the opponents like they were for III, IV and V.

No more legacy opponents. But I honestly don’t know how to tell this story again and make it feel fresh.

I felt that Creed II made for a solid ending for the franchise. There was closure there. But then again, I also said the same thing about Rocky Balboa 14 years ago.

I keep forgetting that Apollo had other kids besides Michael B Jordan’s character.

He fights APOLLO'S KIDS!

Don't know how to box? Don't matter. Adonis will have to fight them.

When Apollo's wife Mary Anne suddenly passes away without a will, who gets the estate?

"Now Adonis has the biggest fight of his life... IN COURT!"

Or.... Apollo has been faking his death the whole time and sees all the shine his illegitimate son is getting and challenges him.

Or why fake his death? What about Apollo’s ghost comes to challenge him! Now you take the series to the next level... the supernatural!

In that case we can bring Mickey back too to give Adonis a mid-fight pep talk.

GET UP YA SON OF A.... because Uncle Mickey loves ya!

*hopes he won't fight Clubber Lang's son*
I wouldn't hate it, but it would obviously be redundant and borderline silly. Maybe make it Lang's nephew? I'm not really sure where they could go with a third Creed

Well he worked with a lot of good directors in his career so hopefully he learned the best aspects from them. Can’t wait for III and hoping for the best.

Perhaps Adonis could take some social or political stance that puts his boxing career in jeopardy in the third film like Muhammed Ali. I know it isn't everyone's thing but it's not like the Rocky films have not highlighted social or political points before.

Stallone was given the reigns on Rocky II so this makes sense for the franchise.

I was hoping Jordan would direct something smaller first though, like Stallone did with Paradise Alley, then move onto Creed III.

Between BLM, protests against police, the pandemic, there’s a plethora of things they could explore and how Adonis and his family reacts to it. Just as long as they have a capable writer.

I also think MBJ might pleasantly surprise us with his directorial work. Being around Coogler for so long and being in the industry since he was a kid, I’m sure he soaked some knowledge up.

Yes. I’m loving it.

As long as he isn't fighting Clubber Lang Jr or whatever, I'm fine with whatever
