Superhero Cinematic Civil War - Part 57

I echo the voices pleased that DD got that wonderful MCU tangent show instead of a direct MCU flick. I still love all of season 2, not just the Punisher stuff.

I don't know about Zooey Deschanel, I love Evangeline Lily as Wasp. but I'm glad Sam Raimi (or the casting director that worked for him) gave Zooey's sister a role in Spider-Man 2. Maybe he should do the same with Zooey for Doctor Strange 2 just so he can have both sisters in both of his Steve Ditko adaptions 2.

As for Grace Randolph; scroll down every time you see her name, never share her tweets or youtube videos, you're giving her more audience in lurkers who view these pages.

That would’ve been a complete and utter miscast. RDJ was tailor made to be Tony Stark.

I love watching the DVD extras in 2008 and see Stan Lee compliments the casting perfection by saying he always thought RDJ was perfect for this character.

I am always surprised at people's surprise that he wouldn't be excellent in the role, massive ego exhibitionist with a drinking issue and issues with social harmony required to portray character as described. Not a massive stretch is it....

I love RDJ, but Doom didn't just suck in that film cause of Julian McMahon. The character was written horribly, trash costume, etc. Even with RDJ, we still get that trash script. The movie would have still been awful

It looks plastic and in desperate need of effects added to make the armor look less plastic than it does, but the suit design is pretty neat, it's one of the reasonably good things about those movies.

The wealth of material Fox had at their disposal to pull from for Doom vs what they put on screen three separate times is almost a war crime.

Doom in the MCU is arguably the single thing I’m most excited to see from Marvel, along with the Silver Surfer.

Marvel fanboys on the internet are trashing Chloe Zhao for taking inspiration from Dune. Because it’s made by a guy who called Marvel movies formulaic. :loco:

This isn't fresh from Whedon. It's pieces from a new Marvel book release.

Regard the Driver as Doom thing… he’s a good actor but I’d prefer a European actor who can use his natural accent rather than an American doing one (or not doing one).

I liked Age Of Ultron a lot, and consider it underrated.

I loved AOU when I first saw it, then started liking it a little less upon further viewings, especially after Civil War came out a year later. But now that we're six years past it, I think that AOU is enhanced by some of the MCU projects that it helped set up, namely Infinity War, Endgame, and WandaVision. It's the worst Avengers movie by default but it's not a bad movie at all.

I still think Adam Driver is the Doom we’ve been waiting for.

You think he’d do it after Kylo?
Driver would be a great Doom, but he also seems like the type of guy who would take on a big role in a blockbuster franchise like Star Wars so that he could do more arthouse films afterwards. Taking into consideration that any actor playing Doom would be in it for the long haul with likely at least twice as many movies as Driver had to do for Star Wars, I don't know how willing he'd be to sign on to another massive franchise.

I love Zooey, but I know Whedon. And I absolutely know how he would write her.

Hard pass.

My first thought exactly, would’ve been unbearable. Will always love the first Avengers dearly, but we got just enough Whedon in the MCU and not an ounce more.
