Don't know why people are getting mad at this when it's not even the JP T-Rex. At the very best you could call it a "prototype" that eventually lead to the origin of Rexy down the line.

Also I think it might foreshadow a re-match between the two later in the movie.

Because this is what some people do for some reason. Its ridiculous. It’s not the same Rex just like in JP3 it wasn’t the original Rex. And everybody was flipping out over nothing. Our Rexy is still alive and well. But yeah from some leaks and rumors she’s gonna fight a Giga in modern day sometime in the film.

Only nitpicks I have are that the audio is a bit out of sync and that whoever was filming the cam footage zoomed in way too much.

Yeah that’s the one I watched. Only one out there right now. This is why I need an HD version. The quality and audio are obviously not the best because it’s like a cell phone recording.

Just saw the full footage. Wow, just wow! It's like I said before, even in cam quality, you can tell how incredible the CGI is this time around. I really do hope that sometime in July they release this footage in HD.

i think it’s cause the animal itself is so iconic and the king . Plus nostalgia

It's a T. rex getting killed by a forced franchise usurper, that's literally it. Only this time it's clearly trying to be done "better", but still, nobody wants to see T. rex lose.

Also gotta be said since I've seen the footage; overall somehow worse than I was expecting in terms of designs, even for some of the new creatures they introduced, so they really overstated the "accuracy" thing and completely undercuts the "nothing in Jurassic World is natural" line/theme of this whole franchise. That said, there is one genuinely on-point creature that I have to actually sing the praises of: the flying not-a-dinosaur Quetzalcoatlus, which is very ironic considering how poorly pterosaurs were represented in the previous films and of course the fact that they are, again, not dinosaurs. Anatomically the only real critiques I have are actually minor -- not minor in a public understanding sense, but like minor to a relative specialist, which is good; that's the place I'd like to be with dinosaur media in general -- specifically the pointy wingtips and oddly long tails, plus the bodies could afford to be smaller (pterosaurs are f-ing weird) but otherwise it's very solid. The way they walk is just so alien, I'm genuinely impressed.

I'm guessing this footage will only be available to watch attached to F9 since it's an IMAX exclusive preview, just like the IMAX previews for Nolan films like TDKR, Tenet, etc.

Well yeah, that's kind of the main appeal. Regardless, I'm pretty sure those three will pop up in the trailers since this is just supposed to be an exclusive preview of the movie's potential opening.

It seemed a weird choice to me at first. But it's not a repeat of the Spino killing the T-Rex as presumably both will be revived for the events of the film with a potential rematch on the cards. Better set up and pay off this way.
