Jurassic World - Part 7

I've just calculated and I was 14, not far off 15. For some reason I'd always thought I was 12 when I saw it lol. I saw it in one of those huge old theatre-like cinemas which don't exist any more where there is just one big screen and the atmosphere was amazing. Combined with the crowd, venue and film it was one of my best cinema experiences ever, quite possibly the best.

I did get to see it last year when it re-released in the theater cause it came out on my birthday or like the day before my birthday. Definitely an experience in the theater on the big screen just like seeing the Star Wars films back in the day when they were re-released in theaters.

I was born in 91, but saw the film around 94 or early 95 or so I believe- I was young enough to have the video games & Kenner toys, and a pressing of the novel, along with the score in Cassette.

Oh hell yeah I had every single toy and the games.

I was born in 85, so I was at the peak of my dino phase when this came out. There were a few dinosaur documentaries on tape I would watch all the time (one hosted by Christopher Reeve and another featuring Fred Savage were my favorites). I remember the first time I heard anything about Jurassic Park...I was playing with toys and watching TV when a trailer came on. I remember quickly standing up and just staring slack-jawed in front of the TV when the shot of the Rex's foot steps into frame in front of Grant and Lex. When the trailer was over I just stood there, trying to comprehend what I just saw. It was awe-inspiring.

Jurassic Park replaced Ninja Turtles for me as a kid. I spent countless hours drawing dinosaurs and creating my own comics and stories based around the JP mythology. I had toys, cards, books, magazines, school supplies; if it had the JP logo on it, I had it. The video game never came out of my Sega Genesis. I loved the tagline the products had: If it's not Jurassic Park, it's extinct!

Dude I remember those documentaries! I had them taped but they're definitely long gone now which makes me super sad.

HAHA YES!!!!!!!!

There was another series of dinosaur documentaries I watched a lot as a kid. The episode I enjoyed the most was where one of the hosts was turning into a dinosaur, so the other host had to go on a search to find a cure, all the while learning/teaching dinosaur facts along the way. He doesn't find the cure in time, and returns to find the other host is now a dinosaur for 80s glasses and a porn star mustache. Here's a promo for them:

Haha oh man think of how far the documentaries have come from those to Walking With Dinosaurs. And even that is a long time ago now already. I loveddddddd WWD. Have the set on DVD.

I wish I could share how momentous the T Rex scene was. I had never seen special effects like this before and I felt a combination of mesmerised and terrified during this scene. It just felt so real. A couple of children had to leave as they were so scared.

It is one of my favourite scenes of all time and the T Rex was THE star of the movie. If she is killed in Jurassic World I will definitely shed a few tears and embarrass myself in the cinema!

I also loved the raptors in Jurassic Park - they were so smart and terrifying. Seeing CP interact with them in the trailers looks amazing and I want to know what happens to them.

Does anyone else still have any of their memorabilia from the first movie? I have a dilophosaurus toy from the first movie - and it can still roar :woot:

Up until last year I had all my toys from all 3 films. A good friend of mine has a son who loves dinosaurs so I actually passed them on to him and he loves them. I dunno if that sounds crazy that I gave them up, but they were just sitting in boxes for years in my closets. Figured I'd spread the JP love to a younger generation.

All Benz everything.

Did yall notice that when they are feeding the goat to the T-rex they drop a red flare in front of the goat to attract the T-Rex? Its the same type of flare Alan uses in JP1 to get the T-Rex's attention.:D

Yep noticed that and noticed Bryce holding the flare there in the scene where she's gonna lure the Rex out to fight the I-Rex :woot:

Really cool. I hope they hold back on showing the I-Rex too much. IMO the best monster movies are the ones where you don't see the monster much and a lot of it is left to your imagination. Also the effects in that clip were great, looks very realistic.
